Default Downloads: NOT a threat to Blu-Ray

Downloads are a threat to conventional rental stores, and places like Netflix.
There are some who think of downloading, hundreds of movies on the hard drives, but the reality is, it's not going to be practical.
The physical disc will remain the medium of choice for the vast majority of movie collectors for years and years.
However, for someone who only wants to watch a movie once...downloads could really be a good option. No trips to the video store, or even to the mailbox. You watch it once, you're done. I'm assuming downloads will have some kind of encryption to stop you from making a copy on a disc.

Besides all of that; the vast majority of households do not have:
Broadband
OR
Large hard drives with huge storage capacity.

And lest we forget, the retailers would lose a HUGE source of income, if they were cut out of selling movies/DVDs. So..downloads aren't going to replace a disc or other physical medium for many years. I won't say..never ever, but I will say it will be a LONG time from now.
