Help! After I went to PS3 1.8, I was able to install Media Player 11 on my XP and get my shared folders to show up on my PS3. However, yesterday, my media server folders no longer showed up. I've messed around with WMP 11 and now I can't even see my PS3 as a possible device to share with anymore.
Anyone else having an issue like this? What I've tried: WMP 11 : Go to Library -> Media Sharing -> Check Share my Media to (nothing is showing as a possible device). PS3 : Searched for media servers - none are found. |

Check to see if the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service is running. If not, try starting it and seeing if it works then.
Also, if you have a firewall running, try turning it off. If it works then, change the settings for the firewall to allow the service above through the firewall. Don't forget to turn the firewall back on. |

Do you leave you PS3 on? Try rebooting it.
I had a frustrating several days trying to figure it out because I never restarted it after the update. |

okay heres what i did. on windows media player 11 (no less will work)
sync - more options- library - configure sharing. Now the ps3 should be there as a unknown device, so - allow and then apply. now search for media servers on your ps3. it should say 1 device found after what seems a eternity. |

The thing is that my 'unknown ps3 device' doesn't appear under my media sharing thing on windows player. I even tried turning off the firewall and still nothing happened. I'll eventually figure it out someday though.
