Media Server? - Blu-ray Forum

When i look through the XMB on my PS3, I always see something at the top of most menus, Search Media Servers. What constitutes a Media Server?
What is it looking for?

Computers running Windows Media Player, or other such devices that would share music, video, and pictures over a network.

Its looking for a PC within the same network as your PS3... and should be running a media server software of some sort like TVersity or Windows Media Player. Cheers!

Running nerohome - but the bandwidth to the PS3 over the wireless isn't enough to support HD content

True not enough bw to push HD content, but if you have dvix content works like magic!

it will link photos, music, printers, it's actually a pretty cool feature.
