Default Just finished Sopranos...

Wow... the last 15 minutes both the wife and I were 100% freaking out. The ending had to be the most suspenseful scene I have ever watched. And it was so different then any movie/show ending...

We are both completely heartbroken that we are out of episodes, but I think it was a good ending. A few more seasons wouldn't have been bad, but still good.

You know, I have to be in the extreme minority of people who have never seen a single episode! Going to have to invest in the series one of these days...

I would wait for the series to go Blu. The first couple seasons just look horrible on DVD. Still a worthwhile series though.

Yeah, The Sopranos is one of my favorite series. I have Season 6 - Part 1 on Blu and it is amazing, even the box is stunning. I still have to get Part 2, but I did see the final episode on HBO and it will go down in history for sure, not to mention what it did for sales of Journey's Don't Stop Believing

I thought the series started speeding towards "is anything going to actually happen" land around the Gay Vito storyline and the series finale defined suck.

YMMV.

I've got the first 3 seasons on dvd, finished it out with rentals from blockbuster. 99 cent buy one get one free is kind of hard to beat.

A lot of the episodes seemed.. like filler episodes, but some of them were just amazing.

I just finished it a few days ago myself! I bought "The Sopranos: The Complete Series" for just over 200 bucks after seeing the first few seasons on some pirated DVDs. I watched every episode back-to-back until it was finally over.

[Show spoiler]My brother thinks Tony ended up being shot, but I see it a tad differently: I think that we are truly seeing the world through his eyes; everyone is a potential hitman. He will never be able to relax because of the life he's chosen. Death had finally caught up with everyone in his crew (with the exception of Paulie) and it won't be too long before it catches up with him. Maybe not that night. Or even the night a year from then. But his time will definetly come as it did for everyone else in the series.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ima...F8&n=130&s=dvd For those of you who have seen the original DVDs: You might wanna check this out instead of buying the BDs, they aren't the same DVDs they used in the season sets and look much better. It'd be a smidgen cheaper, especially if you buy it at F.Y.E.; You get a FREE Backstage Pass (it's regularly 19.99, but free with purchases over a hundred dollars) that takes off 20% of the item you're buying at the moment and then you can use it to get 10% off of every other purchase you make for the next year with another 20% off on your birthday! If you buy DVDs and BDs as often as I do, this set should pay for itself!

I am on board 100% with your analysis of the final scene, and I'm fairly certain this is also what Chase intended (obviously I can't be 100% sure since he won't say, but it fits with a lot of his comments and Chase's M.O. in general).

OP, I would strongly recommend you Six Feet Under and/or The Wire to replace The Sopranos.

I agree. Can't go wrong with either of those. I might actually like SFU more than The Sopranos, but it might be because I watched it more recently.

My take in it has always been that
[Show spoiler] it was the viewer who got whacked without knowing what hit us

I tried to watch Brotherhood after the Sopranos. Didn't watch the new season.

I watched every episode every single season for 8 years, and after all the waiting and the 18 months in between some seasons, I was one of the millions who in the final seconds screamed "WTF!" at the tv, lol. I was so pissed I didn't watch the show again for 2 years. Until about a month ago, I borrowed every season from my buddy and watched em all. They where still great obviously some better than others, but since I knew the exact moment the show ended and I knew what was coming this time, I wasn't so angry. I just wish they would have made that Sopranos movie, I mean in reality there was still plenty of the crew around, I remembered that going much different as well, haha one of those tricks the mind plays on ya i guess.

I'll pick up some Six Feet Under, check them out. We tried out Carnivale also, the first two episodes were weird, but pretty entertaining.

Keep going. It becomes quite heavy, deep, dark and weird....excellent.
