Default bluray cabel $140

Hi, I just bought a HDTV and a bluray player. I was eager to see the high quality picture so I went to BestBuy for a HDMI cable. To my suprise, the Cable, Monster 6.68G 8 ft, cost more than $140 (I am in california and we just got a 1% tax increase today). I was shocked because my player cost only $199. Anyway I bought that and hopefully I can hear some advice from your guys.

thanks,

ff

Return it. Go to Monoprice.com and get your HDMI cables from there. Same result, $10.

Take it back PRONTO!!!! A $140 HDMI cable is more like an anal probe. As previously stated go to Monoprice.com, Amazon, anywhere other than Worst Buy. If you don't want to wait for a delivery then go to Walmart where you can at least get a cable under $60 with some of the shorter ones selling around $30, but I would order it personally. I got two HDMI cables on Amazon for $14 shipped. A well made cheap cable will give you the exact same results as that overpriced Monster cable. Believe me, I once bought an $60 cable from Best Buy just see if there would be any difference, and the answer was a big resounding NO! I took it back with the swiftness!

Simply return it. Do not even open the packaging. You can get an identical cable from Monoprice that does the same thing the Monster cable does for around $10 shipped. Monoprice is located near California so you should receive your cable by the end of the week, if not sooner, if you order by 4:00 tomorrow (I believe that is the cut-off time). This is what you will need. They do accept PayPal.

I call shenanigans on this post. A first time poster, talking about a high priced monster cable, on april fools...

Just in case it isn't, then I whole heartily agree with all of the answers given above

I wouldn't buy cables from Walmart. They might be cheap, but they're poor build quality meaning they don't always work.

You are a silly consumer if you just paid $140 for an HDMI cord. MONOPRICE.COM enough said and RETURN that junk back to BB.

I bought 3- 15 foot HDMI cables from Amazon for under 25 bucks. Like everyone else says, take that overpriced bable back to BB and get you money back.

I can't say this LOUD ENOUGH:

+ 1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely Return it, Go to Monoprice, & pay less than 10% (!!) of what BB charged. You'll find their cables do Exactly the same thing those over-priced ones do. Good lord. You Really paid $140 for a cable? Did it come with a New iphone ?! Lol.

Monster Cable is great for speaker wire, interconnects, and video cables such as component and s-video, but for HDMI all you need is a cheap one. There is no advantage to shielding in an HDMI cable. I've always been a Monster Cable guy, but this is one area where it is not needed.

Guys, let's give FF a break here. Most consumers (and we are definitely not most consumers) don't know what a good cable should cost.

But yes, definitely take that back, save yourself $130, and buy from Monoprice. You'll be much better off.

Unless you feel like spending an extra $130 for a "nice looking" chord lol. I don't know how they can rape people like this its so horrible for the dumb consumers that actually buy these things. No wonder people don't want to switch to blu-ray when they go to best buy and are like the played is $150 and you gotta buy this 200 cord thats redic and a deterrent.

I honestly believe that the high cost of store bought cables is acting as a barrier to Blu-Ray's market success.

I was in BB about a month ago picking up a few movies, and I overheard a conversation between BB employee and a customer. The customer (a female) was all set to buy a Blu-Ray player for her husband, until the BB employee explained to her than in order to "really get the most out of her purchase" that she would need to already have an HDTV, then she would need a surround sound system plus a $150 Monster cable to hook it up. Then the cost of each movie was about $30. She put the Blu-Ray player down and decided to get him something else...

As Most of us know, that's what they're Trained to do. They are Salespersons (PC Police: Check - !) after all, right? Like when you go to a 7-11 or whatever, you get a bag of chips & they say, "want a drink with that?", or the theater when you buy popcorn or nachos, etc., it's the same thing: "would you like a drink with that? - to which if you say anything Other than a Super XXL Big 87 oz. Soda, they'll ALWAYS say, "for $.50 more, you can have this Larger size?" -- Lol.

I'm sure if said lady HAD bought the $150 Monster Cable (let alone a Surround system!), her husband would have "hopefully" brought it back and said, "Ummm, I don't Think so!".

That's one of the worst screwjobs I've ever heard of.

You should smack the salesman's fat face for having the nerve to sell that to you.
