Default Over 140,000 Japanese PSP-3000's sold in just 4 days

Quote:
Released in Japan on October 16th, the new PSP-3000 has reached a sales figure of 141,270 units in its first four days. Impressive! Also impressive, the combined sales figures of the PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 for the October 13th-October 19th period tallied 155,720 units. (Compare that to the 19873 PSPs sold the previous week and the 24131 sold the week before that.) To date, 10,357,481 PSPs have been sold in Japan.

With Dissidia FF coming up, it's going to be a big Christmas for the PSP.

Great news. Dissidia will really help push PSP sales. Hopefully, Resistance: Retribution gives NA sales a big push early next year.

I still want an anodized aluminium PSP and PS3. Maybe after they go slimline (or slimmerline).

Awesome sales. Hopefully it will encourage Sony to do an annual refresh for the PSP with new features and additions each time.

youre gonna kill our pocketbooks with that thinking! but i want my touchscreen psp and i'll be happy.

but what else could they add that wouldnt cut off current psp owners? aside from wireless G or N.

but back to touchscreen, shouldnt we be getting psp 2 rumors pretty soon? seems 09/10 is about the right time for a new one

PSP hardware is more then capable, just looking at God Of War/Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core/Tekken 5 DR/etc will tell you that. All the PSP2 would improve on is input ability, aka, touch screen or 2nd analog stick, the graphics are just fine as it is. I dont see the need for a new PSP, but refreshes are just fine.

but if games never get any better looking, whos gonna care? its not like every game looks like the ones you mentioned. theyre few and far between. i realize theres still some power left in there as well, but if they expect 10 years with the same stuff, i might as well be done with the psp now.

No thanks. That kind of release schedule is why I hate Nintendo and Apple now.

I think a PSP2 would reduce the overall size, and power consumption, along with a second analogue stick and touch screen it would be pretty good. MiniBD drive would also be a very good idea get rid of UMD once and for all!

Graphics don't need to be improved, they just need to fix the piracy problem and increase the quality of current games and actually concentrate on portable gaming rather than high quality console gaming which should be done at home.

As long as all games play on all versions I don't think it is a bad thing, no one is forcing you to buy a new one every year. I still have a PSP Phat...

those are exactly the things i said in the wishlist thread!

but if theyre gonna give us a psp2, might as well improve the graphics.

psp is basically a ps2, why not a psp2 basically a ps3? is it too much to expect a 'mobile' variation of the cell?

Ha, PS3 in a mobile configuration, it would most likely burn your hands off!

I still think touchscreen is a pointless and overall bad idea for PSP unless its also a phone. In which case it would only be used for when your using it as a phone.

I still say add dual analog and vibration. Make it mandatory on new games and encourage people to patch old games. (like with the DS3 on the PS3)

Oh and I know your fairly new here, but we did have a thread about how big a UMD would be if it used blu-ray technology, I've forgotten the exact numbers but if they manage to make a qaud core then it would be 20GB+

touchscreen would make it a complete media system. it wouldn't be needed so much for games as it would everything else.

I have to agree with Max. Piracy is killing the PSP right now, thats one of the reasons why there is really no games coming out right now for it.
