I honestly believe that the high cost of store bought cables is acting as a barrier to Blu-Ray's market success.
I was in BB about a month ago picking up a few movies, and I overheard a conversation between BB employee and a customer. The customer (a female) was all set to buy a Blu-Ray player for her husband, until the BB employee explained to her than in order to "really get the most out of her purchase" that she would need to already have an HDTV, then she would need a surround sound system plus a $150 Monster cable to hook it up. Then the cost of each movie was about $30. She put the Blu-Ray player down and decided to get him something else... |
