United Kingdom DVD Regions 1-6 Out Of Date.

DVD Region Codes Are Out Of Date They Should Be In Line With Blu-Ray Codes A,B OR C And Set One Standard For Both Blu-Ray & DVD Does Anyone Agree With This.

Well, Japan and the rest of the DVDs in Asia wouldn't work because they are Region 2 and 3. BD's from Australia wouldn't work because they are Region 4.

Yes I Know This But My Point Is DVD Should Be The Same As Blu-Ray Region A,B,C. Australia Is Region 4 On DVD But Region B On Blu-Ray. UK Is Region B On Blu-Ray & Region 2 On DVD. So All Countrys That Are Region B On Blu-Ray Anyway Should Be Region B On DVD & Not Region 2 Or 4 As Is On DVD. One Standard For All.

you can't.

1) people know that they are region 1,2,3.... on DVD so calling it A,B,C would just mix them up (I have a region 2 player, that movie says B, will it work?)

2) in the end if we call them A or 1 it does not matter it is a label on the back. Like you said 2 (UK) & 4 (Australia) have different regions on DVD, what do you use? You can't change the players in peoples homes. So what do you do? do you make all region 4 players use less and use 2 (it is close to B) do you get rid of 2 (hey you are R2 why should others be forced to do something you would not) or do you label both 2 & 4 as B and then if someone buys a 4 and tries it on a 2 player, tough for them.

3) it gets even more complicated. Even if we assume we can merge like in 2, you also have the opposite. Mexico (and most other countries in central and south America) and Australia where 4 on DVD but now the first is A while the latter is B

so let's get complicated and see the whole world

US=1=A, Thai=3=A, Mexico=4=A, Japan=2=A, Australia=4=B, UK=2=B, Madagascar=5=B, India=5=C , China=6=C

A=1,2,3,4
B=2, 4,5
C=5,6
so how would you differentiate? in essance any A player must play A & B , C must play B & C and B must play all three
