Default Warner breaks the street date of The Invasion(HD-DVD)

Looks like the HD-DVD copy is already on store shelves.

What’s up with that? I though they had to wait 3 weeks.

Yes, all 3 stores I went to had the Invasion on the shelf today on HD DVD and Blu Ray. When I tried to complain, Wal Mart and Rogers told me I was wrong and refused to check into it, and the CD Plus manager said he didn't care and that he wasnt gonna take it down.

It's only because the units were already in the distributor's warehouses, and they probably didn't feel like sitting on crates for another 3 weeks just to please Warner.
I don't think that "The Invasion" day & date will massively benefit HD DVD

Prolly where this specific title was in the channel at the time that led to the confusion.

Amazon and Warner's online storefront properly reflect the correct street date, so I blame the retailers.

Anycase, oh well, it'll improve with time, or Warner will get a couple hundred thousand in reward settlement from folks routinely breaking contract law.

I had just assumed they wouldn't rush them out the door and wouldn't ship them as quickly.

I imagine that lots of 'the invasion' was already ready to ship since this title is only at the end of january. I'm sure we'll start to see titles in the future fall further behind on red as they get a chance to actually alter their production lines.

Some release are in stock 1 month before the actual dates, it depend on the distributor and movie studio. But back when i was a DVD freak, i use to order DVD from a site and received many release 3 weeks before release

Theorically it come out Feb 16 or something like that. All Warner Title have been pushed 3 weeks on HD DVD. Altought in the US, some store actually released it..

Exactly, most movies are shipped to distributors 3 to 4 weeks before street.

I don't blame the retailers for putting it out early. They don't want to hold onto stock (especially since HD DVD is going down the crapper) and I would put it out on the floor as soon as I got it also.

My brother tells me this all the time since he goes to one of the local distribution centers in town. He says they often have them ready to go out a month or more in advance. The places probably already had The Invasion and just sent it out with their regular shipments. Hopefully it will get better with the later releases.

On one hand though, does a movie store really want to bring in new stock of a movie that was released 3 weeks ago? I'm sure a lot of HD-DVD people who were going to rent it would just have rented the DVD and upscaled it to see if it was any good.

Thumbs down

... and why does this matter? They're already losing everything, why make them wait a few weeks for The Invasion? It seems that most people here would rather hurt and put HD DVD supporters down than embrace them... this is actually very disturbing and somewhat childish. No wonder people don't want to switch from HD DVD to Blu-Ray.

Retailers are tend to put out whatever they got esp. for new releases. Unless there are RESTRICT contracts forbidding them to do so.

And provider won't bother to signed up forbidding contract unless that is a bomb products.
