Default Good feelings about Star Trek movie set.

I saw parts of both Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (ST II) and Star Trek: Generations (ST G) on HD movie channels this past weekend. Made me very excited for the eventual Blu-Ray releases. (To clarify, I saw II on one channel and Gen on another).

ST II looked nice in a classic film on Blu kind of way, ie; the picture looked very clear, but it's not exactly Blu-Ray eye candy. That's not a problem, mind you, the picture was great and light-years DVD. ST G looked like the TNG crew were just in a big box shaped like a TV, performing the movie live, it was that beautiful.

All in all, these two HD showing made me excited for the Blus for them. Just a quick question: Has anyone seen HD showings of any Star Trek films and, if so, what were your thoughts and how excited did it make you for that Blu releases? (Any complaints about the lack of Director's Cuts and I'll sic Lursa and B'Etor on you ).

I too am looking forward to my Trek movies collection. However even on SD I remember some years ago recognizing the graphics on the turbo lift doors behind Kirk's captain's chair in TWOK clearly as decals. I expect to see more of these kinds of details revealed more so in high def.

On a related note, while watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade last year on DVD on my 37" HDTV, I pointed out to my friends in one scene that the wall of books behind Indy in the "X marks the spot" scene was clearly a painted flat with low relief book spines glued to it. Oops! Oh, how that will look on eventual BD.

my biggest beef with star trek props is you could buy the borg drone recharge cubicles light show at the top, at any head shop or spencers

I thought the set would only include the first 3 movies or up to "Undiscovered Country". That would be great if I could get ST: Generations on blu since it's the only one I liked.

I'm not much of a trekkie.

I have four of those Borg plasma discs (from Spencer Gifts). I use them for Halloween decorations. But I digress.

More than anything, I would like to see Seven of Nine on Blu-ray. But I digress.

I will pass on the series on BD (at least, for now). But I have already preordered the movies. They should look really great on BD. I hope Paramount really gives them the full treatment on blu-ray.

I really hated William Shatner's obvious hairpiece in the films. But I digress.

That's correct. Only 1-6 are being released on blu next month. The 4 TNG films are rumored to be released later this year, probably when ST XI hits BD/DVD.

I'll grab this set for sure before it goes up in price later. I do like all 6 movies so definitely a no-brainer here.

All I ask is these look film-like and non-processed looking (no DNR and EE).

It's a shame we're not getting the Director's Cuts of each of the films.

Guess I'll be hanging on to my DVD's of some of the films.

I already preorder the trilogy on blu. I didnt like so much the other 3 movies in the 6 movie collection. Does anybody have seen a little bit more of the art besides whats on this site? I was curious to know if they are going to be individual cases (normal sizes) in the box set.
