Since I've never seen an episode of Star Trek and I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm going to stick with the regular edition. It will be a blind buy for me, though.

Well, the normal retail for the Blu-ray disc without the replica badges is $39.99 US.

This set includes them for the same retail price. Hmmm. I will get this one despite the store discounts on the regular set.

How is it POSSIBLE that SlmShdy1 has not seen a Star Trek TV episode or Star Trek movie!? How old are you? Do you not watch television? Jesus, it's on every f'ing day at multiple times everywhere! You do have a unique opertunity though, to see this movie and just try to enjoy it for what it is, a big , giant special effects show. Oh sure, you will not be able to appreciate the DECADES of history and lore of the Star Trek universe from a bunch of Sci-Fi's greatest writers of all time that gets dumped on by this movie but please go ahead and start (and possible end) your foray into this great universe with this half-assed reboot movie.

If you live in LA and are either A)unemployed, B)insomniatic, or C) Tyler Durden, you can catch it on the CW Channel 5 at around 1am.

If it's at the same price as the regular set, I'll get it just for the hell of it. If the regular set is cheaper, I'm sticking with the regular set.

I never watched it because I never had an interest in it, but the new movie looks good. I've liked everything that has had J.J. Abrams attached. I know G4 airs Star Trek all the time and so does Spike. Trust me, I watch a lot of TV but never was interested in Star Trek.

I bet the price will go down to a normal level to compete with the other stores... Best Buy's initial pre-order prices are usually quite high and don't go down until around the time of the release date. They have had many Star Trek set exclusives (namely those bonus discs with the season sets) in the past that have been the same price as their competitors come release week. You would think they'd have respectable pre-order prices to lock in business before release week... especially considering that this title is in Amazon's #3 best-seller BD slot even though it doesn't come out until November.

I'm tempted to pre-order it now, but I'm going to wait awhile.
