Default PC Magazine Article - Most Will Never Buy HD Discs!

Made a scan for you all.

Read over the article and this guy is a flake. He says one thing, then contradicts it with another. Then he gets off track and then back on. Not sure what the point of the article is other than page filler, but figured you all would like to read it.

The file is in PDF and can be found --> HERE <--

It sounds like he's backing what Microsoft wants to do. Have HD movie downloads. I still want to buy a movie on a Disc vs. downloading it.

Yeah I know. He loves contradicting himself. I saw it when I was flipping through, came in the mail today - Issue June 26, 2007.

When I read the part about nobody buying discs I was like ok hes going to talk about downloading. Then he mentions a 160 gig hard drive like its the end all of storage devices. I am like ok - that won't even hold the 2 Pirates releases, now what?

Pff. I will always buy movies on disc or whatever comes next. No greater satisfaction than having something hard in your hands (no sickos please) to show where your money went. That and the fact that I get the best picture and sound

u cant beat movies on a disc, plus the nice box and disc art really makes it stand out. PLus, u will eventually run out of Hard disk space with the amount of movies most of us in hear watch. Why would I download a movie so I can erase it later so I can make room for a new one. I want to keep the bloody thing.....savvy

I used to write papers like this in college. When given a topic, a deadline, and how many pages it should be, I could usually B.S. my way to an "A" paper. I thought magazine editers had better B.S. detectors.

You guys don't know how lucky you are that you don't need to read some of the stuff us German speaking folks have to.
I clearly don't agree with his theory (check my sig ) but honestly, he is not really contradicting himself. He sets up a theory (that there won't be a need for optical discs) and backs it up with his opinion. That's where he fails (because it's just his opinion), but that's really all there is. And for all the people who still think even porn is only watched by means of the internet here is an article that might be of interest.

Quote:
According to Adult Video News (AVN) the “Variety” of the adult film industry, the adult entertainment industry took in nearly $13 billion last year, with adult videos accounting for $3.6 billion of those revenues, despite fierce competition from adult material available on the Internet.
And this is small stuff to download, not nearly the size of an HD movie...

Is there anyway to email that sack of shit, Don Costa? I can't believe he is trying to write a book as well. I hope techheads enjoy picture books. Maybe people will just download it instead buying an actual hard copy. Wait... I can see it now. The new trend will be to download novels and magazines and print them up yourselves!!

I oughta kick your ass Don!!

Personally, I think this man is brilliant!

Okay, so I'll go out and buy a terabite external harddrive to store my movies. That costs $400 and should hold the equivalent of 20 blu-rays. Now that I got my storage, I'll buy my movies. So at, what $15-$20 each, that'll only cost me about $360 dollars for twenty movies.

Then all I have to do is drag my PC, which I've spent over $500 upgrading to play HD movies with surround sound, hook it up to my TV, and I'm good to go!

And it only cost me...uh...$760 for my twenty movies. And it'll cost another $760 for another twenty... Screw it, I'll spend my $760 on 38 "obsolete" blu-rays and give up some shelf space.
