Thumbs down OFFICIAL: 'Life' is over at NBC

I just kept holding out a glimmer of hope that a show this fantastic would be given a reprieve, but apparently reality shows are more important and we needed Celebrity Apprentice, more than we needed 'Life' They mention it only earned 6.2 million viewers in it's second season which are the exact same numbers as 'Chuck'!!! SUCK IT NBC!

Quote:
The fates of "Chuck" and "Law & Order" may still be up in the air, but NBC was definitive about one on-the-fence show at its upfront presentation Monday: "Life" will not get a third season.

"It will not be coming back," was NBC co-chairman Ben Silverman's short and to-the-point statement on the show's fate, which came in response to a question about it at the network's upfront presentation in New York Monday. The LA Times and numerous others reported the cancellation.

It's not a huge surprise. The series, which starred Damian Lewis as eccentric L.A. detective Charlie Crews, averaged only about 6.2 million viewers in its second season, where it split time between Wednesday and Friday nights (along with a brief tryout on Mondays at the beginning of the season).

The show had faded from discussion of NBC's bubble shows over the past week as reports focused attention on "Chuck," "Law & Order" and "Medium" -- which isn't officially renewed, despite earlier reports. All three of those shows are reportedly still in contention for spots on the NBC schedule. The network says it will announce additional pickups, along with its lineup for next season, on Tuesday, May 19.

I never watched the show, so I never knew that they ended up moving it twice during the season. How can you expect a show to get good ratings when you're moving it around? Some of the decisions these networks make boggles my mind.

I liked Life but at least it's finale gave the show some closure and wasn't open-ended. With Leno taking 5 hours of prime time you had to know some shows had to go and it always seemed like this was a likely candidate.

I wanted this show to do well if only because of Richard Winters...

While the Life finale was excellent, it did actually leave open-ended. Many new questions where raised about Charlie and Rayborn and the past, not to mention what happens now after the fall of Roman!?!?! They left so many questions, but at least since the show had to go down, it went out in style. I sure am gonna miss me my weekly Shahi.............

I watched this show with my wife because she liked it. Besides the unrealistically hot female partner, the show really wasn't anything special.

Sad for fans of the show. My wife and I both watched first half of season one but then somehow just never ended up watching anymore. It was a decent show. Unfortunately, as I have said since they first started taking over...reality shows are killing tv. The stupid networks need to wakeup and start putting out some good sitcoms like back in the day. Remember the good ol' days when you had the likes of Fresh Prince, Cosby Show, Seinfeld, Full House, Family Matters, Boy Meets World, Wonder Years...etc. (sigh)

I see law and order coming back before chuck or medium. Sucks too... Chuck is my favorite show on tv right now.

It's like "my own worst enemy" which was cancelled after six episodes. WTF?

I grew up on TGIF, I was just talking about that the other day with a friend, lol. Reality TV shows about singing have officially killed the intelligence of my generation.

I agree. Reality TV does kill intelligence of this upcomming generation. Life was a good show. It is sad to see it go

This and The Mentalist were two of the newer shows that I liked. And I agree, reality shows are killing TV. Thank God USA, TNT and even the Sci-Fi Channel(I refuse to call it SY-FY) are taking up the slack.

I liked the first season better than the second. They toned down Crews' quirky nature the second season.

What do you mean were? The Mentalist isn't going anywhere, or did you just stop watching?

Reality is just the cool new word for gameshow, it's all about changing the vernacular.

I meant that I liked those two. Sorry.

I watch The Mentalist every week. I think it's one of the better shows on TV right now. I wish they would of given Life a chance. But bouncing it around like they did it was almost like they wanted to dump it.

I would like to know what the deal is with all the quirky people working in law enforcement lately. 'Life' did it first, and now there is the Mentalist, The Unusuals and Castle. Just strange that now if you're weird and work around law enforcement there is a show for you, lol.
