Default Connecting T.V. and Player Question

Via PM.... I'm not sure.... help a guy out....

Background info

okay so i have a Westinghouse VM-42F140S 42" monitor.

I have a BDP-S360 Sony blu-ray player.

They are connected using an HDMI cable

There is an option to (on, off or auto) 1080p/24.

When I select On or Auto I get a message on my monitor that says "no signal" and i lose the picture (that always stays black) after 30 secs.

During this time i get sound though.

So my questions,

Can my monitor display 1080p/24?

Should I display it in 1080p/24 if i can?

Finally, if i can, how do I?

Here's a link to the WH Monitor Manual

I've tried the same on my Sharp display, with the same result. Short answer is, his display cannot show 1080/24p. Like mine, it only displays 1080/60p. So set the option of 1080/24p to "Off" on the BD player.
