Smile Connecting Blu-ray dvd player and cable box to receiver and then tv

I have a brand new Sony Blu Ray player (BRP), Comcast Cable box (CCB), Sony Bravia LCD tv, and an Onkyo TX-SR674 reciever. All are HDMI compatible. I connected an HDMI cable from the BRP to the receiver, another from the CCB to the reciever, and finally from the receiver to the tv.
When I connect all cables I got no picture and no sound.
I can connect directly from cable box or cable outlet to tv and the television works fine.
I looked at my reciver settings and did not find an option to change the input to HDMI. Currently, Video 1 is set to receive OPT 1, and Video 2 is set to recieve Analog. I don't believe the problem is with the tv as I have ruled that out by going direct from the CCB/wall.
What must I do to correct this? I think it's a receiver setting but I'm not sure what to set the input to. I've read that on this reciever it is automatic (picking up HDMI input). If that's the case should I set it to BLANK (---) - that's an option. I tried that and still got NADA. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

pg.47 of the user manual has a diagram for setting the HDMI input.

so:
  • Menu
  • 0. Video Input
  • (scroll down) -HDMI-
  • e. DVD = IN 1 or IN 2

are you saying you get no option for HDMI at all?

I use to own an Onkyo 604, if I remember correctly you might have to scroll down after "Component" settings.
