I'm sure a mod will merge this thread.
The set is expensive, especially compared to the theatricals, but you are getting all the extra content & better transfers. Around £16.66 a film isn't too bad. Its a shame they didn't include the extras on a couple of Blu-rays in SD, instead of the 9 DVDs but at least you get the extra features discs from the extended DVD set & the Costa Botes documentaries. The set has dipped down to £30 a couple of times, but usually springs back up to £40-£50 EDIT: By the way my purchase of the set, at £45, was softened as I traded in a few dusty 360 & PS3 games. So only ended up paying about £24. Last edited by DaveSimonH; 04-12-2012 at 12:50 AM. |

You will probably need to wait to the end of the year around Christmas time. With Black Friday, Christmas, and the release of The Hobbit at theaters, I can see the proce dropping. I got mine last year around the first week of December for $50

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Extended Edition) [Blu-ray] amazon.co.uk: Available from these sellers. I can't believe it! The most popular trilogy of all time, and I cannot buy the extended edition of TTT via Amazon. I cannot buy the extended edition of TTT via Amazon. Unbelievable! |

Why didn't you buy them when they were like £6? The Two Towers went down to £6.14, The Return of the King £6.16 and The Fellowship of the Ring was £3.24, it's now £4.24.
It sounds like it and the other releases are going OOP. The supermarkets sometimes have the full set on offer. |

Thank you for your responses. I don't care about the hobbit 'movies' at all. FOTR still has the green tint = no boxset for me. I've ordered TTT and ROTK from Amazon, but I got the dvd version of TTT last year. I sent it back etc. They sent the dvd edition to me again earlier this year, and after that TTT is OOP. BUT /rant on We are talking about TTT now, about the TT! Is it really so hard to publish the extended films in Europe? They are not available in the UK/France/Germany/Hungary (where I live) etc. This is not ridiculous, this is pathetic. /rant off (I could buy the latest hobbit 'movie' in SIX different blu editions in Hungary. But I cannot buy the extended TTT.) |
