![]() ![]() http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...blu-ray/692105 So I was in JB today and noticed this new Die Hard boxset. I didn't think much of it at first, but then I noticed it said "Die Hard 4.0 - Harder Edition" on the cover. I checked the back and it listed the same extras as the regular edition of 4.0, but in a seperate box it said something about an extended ending or something like that. I wish I took a picture because I can't remember the exact wording. Has anybody actually picked up this set or knows more about it? The German boxset got the uncut version of the movie and our releases are usually lumped in with the rest of Europe. Did we get lucky? Last edited by LordCrumb; 12-04-2013 at 08:07 AM. |

I haven't purchased it myself, but there has been discussion on this in other parts of the forum. It indeed contains the unrated Die Hard 4.0, you get an option from the main menu to watch one or the other.
But if you already own the films, I don't think it's worth a double dip since the unrated cut is bollocks anyway. Few pink CGI blood puffs and some very obviously dubbed curse words. I hate DH4 personally - I have the old Die Hard box-set and actually removed it from the set. |

I picked this set up last week and YES Die hard 4 does include the Extended but "shorter" and UNRATED version. F words and blood its all there.
I think the Aussies got the best set out of everyone which shocked me as we usually get shafted on some blu rays so glad they didn't stuff this set up. Also watch the Decoding Die Hard disc as it's a very good retrospective doc on the first 4 films. |

I think the unrated version is the directors vision and the PG13 version is the censored version as sanctioned by the studio for a lower rating and larger audience. "A few cgi blood puffs and dubbed curse words". Bit more than that actually . And the director of full of $hit. He's saying that to cover his ass. Fox only agreed to make the movie if it was PG-13. Kevin Smith has talked about it at length. |

It was only in 2 disc dvd's and this Oz release is its first ever appearance on Bluray. I believe the directors comments were on the documentary included with the 2 disc dvd. 76 changes are enough to make any Die Hard fan interested to see the alternate version. This is Die Hard after all .It shouldn't be PG-13 and its good to see a version that adds the harder edge to the movie bringing it closer to the spirit of the original . Whether the dialogue was said on set is unimportant. I would guess a good amount of the dialogue in Die Hard movie action scenes is added later anyway Mine was shipped a couple of days ago so I hope its here in the UK this week. Ordered on the 24th , arrived in the UK today . All 5 movies in a box that usually fits only one disc.
Watched Die Hard today and it seems to be the exact same disc as the previous Oz release bereft of many of the bonus features included on the 2 disc dvd versions. |

Purchased this title myself last week and it definitely seems like uncut Die Hard 4.0. Quite an impressive set extras-wise as well, especially since Australia gets regularly shafted in terms of extras (no Watchmen Director's Cut, Man of Steel missing extras, no Lethal Weapon set with the docos). Even, like it or not, the addition of the A Good Day to Die Hard extended disc makes it top notch in terms of up-to-date completeness.

I'm just gonna wait until they release the unrated Die Hard 4 separately. On a similar note, is it my imagination or does the McClane/Targo fight in Die Hard With A Vengeance seem to have more of the chain-whipping on Blu than any DVD version? Pretty sure there's also a bit of extra dialogue when he mentions Lurch from The Addams Family. It still looks cut, but perhaps slightly less?
