Great news! I've been hoping Criterion would bring out more of Lloyd's films.

They have the entire holdings of the Lloyd Estate licensed, which is substantial. It's just a matter of them getting around to them.

The Kid Brother is a good one, but personally the one I'm anxious for is Girl Shy.

It was rumored that The Kid Brother was going to be out this year for the 125th anniversary of Lloyd's birth, but that didn't materialize for whatever reason. I'll just say that I hope Criterion will soon release this film.

Why is Lloyd grabbing his crotch? Is this an early hip/hop video or does he have to pee?!?

That’s his fake hand, it was kind of difficult for him to hold it in certain positions without making it obvious as he was kind of self conscious about it.

This is my favorite Lloyd film, with Girl Shy a close second. Actually all his movies with Jobyna Ralston I prefer over the others because they have great chemistry and she is such a doll.

Yeah, more like a photo shoot with a fake bomb that turned out to be a real bomb and blew off his thumb and index finger. He wore a prosthesis hidden under a special glove after that and kind of hid his hand from view as much as possible which is why I'm surprised it's so prominent in that photo used on the cover. I first noticed it while watching Speedy when I just happened to notice his hand looked a little weird in some scenes and read up on it. I have a morbid interest in stuff like that. Reading up on his estate, Greenacres, is also interesting, especially after he died in the 1970s and people toured his house and said it was basically like Sunset Boulevard where everything was pretty much as it had been when the house was built in the 1920s.

I've loved Harold Lloyd since I was a kid. My first introduction to him was at a wax museum with him hanging from that big clock. I believe the only film I ever got to see on TV was Safety Last and even then it might have been just snippets since he wasn't good about licensing his films on TV. Maybe it was having to seek out his films (before home media) that piqued my interest. The harder something is to find, the more I seek it. I first heard about the hand incident from the Criterion Safety Last extras. I believe it was in reference to all the climbing he did with his damaged hand. That pic I posted is his actual prosthetic hand that was auctioned off with some of his personal items not too long ago. And speaking of his estate, isn't that the same one that was used in some of the scenes from The Most Dangerous Game (1932) ? They even used his great danes for that film....
