Thumbs down Netflix BS

I had three new releases in queue at Netflix this week, and they have been there for several weeks. They mailed Windtalkers, but both Superman Returns and The Ant Bully were placed on wait status. This has happened half the time with Blu-ray movies since I got my player 5 weeks ago.

I sent Customer Service an inquiry to find out what the problem was and express my concern. I let them know that Blu-ray players are selling like hotcakes and suggested they might want to increase their inventory to handle the added demand. Please keep in mind that all of these movies had a release date of 11/28 on the Netflix site. Here is their reply:

We appreciate your inquiry. The studio carrying the title decides what films will be released in the HD format. As more HD titles become available, they will be added to the Netflix site. Please be sure to check frequently to see what titles have been added.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks,
Lilyan

I have been a long time Netflix customer, but I am reconsidering my options.

blockbuster online seems to have a good selection of both blu-ray and hd dvd you might want to check them out. You get a couple of free in store rentals each month too.

Netflix has done it again, they put The Flight of the Phoenix in wait state. They are just too cheap to order enough copies for initial release.

Well, your obvioulsly a niche market to them. HD-DVD and Blu-ray have been out for only a few months. It's still in it's penitration stage. For every Blu-ray and HD-DVD player owners combined, ther are probably hundreds of dvd owners. It will take a year or two before either gets to a mainstream stage. Till then reap the early adopter woes. Like the saying goes "Good things come to those who wait."

For this reason I got an Upsampling DVD player ( for 24 dollars ). It looks awsome . It shall tide me over till Blu-ray becomes mainstream.

This is typical of customer service responses from large companies, not just Netflix. They don't respond to your question or concern because they don't even bother to read your email. They see one keyword and send out the canned response. Unfortunately taking your business elsewhere won't help much because Netflix will never notice you in the churn, and whoever you take your business to is likely no better.

Absolutely right - just like any message sent to eBay.

Ya'll aren't telling me anything new about customer service or large companies. But if no one complains, nothing gets done. I posted this because I told both the CS reps and the CEO of Netflix I would let as many people know what kind of bad service they are giving. They have already lost one class action lawsuit for false advertising. And they still advertise unlimited rentals. By them not providing what I have in queue, they are not giving me unlimited rentals. It is not my fault they do not have new releases available when they come out.
