Is there any big differences between the two? Is the quality of monster really worth the 60 extra bucks or whatever it is online? I just purchased a tv and it was extremely hard to walk out of the store without a cable, so I will need to order one online tonight. thanks for any help.

Thanks guys. I called some computer stores but they were out or too expensive so I went and ordered two cables from monoprice. Even with expediated shipping they were about as cheap as anything I can find, and I'm sure they'll be fine for now. Even with a bad cable the difference between the new tv and my old sdtv will be large enough to make me thrilled.

True. Monster is just marketing. I'm in the biz, I know. HDMI says inorder to be fully 1.3 compliant, it's the sending and receiving units - including any receiver you're running through, that have to mesh. All HDMI cables will work whether they have pretty pink stripes or not. The cables are expensive because of the royalties the manufacturers have to pay HDMI, then Monster for example, tries to throw on more fancy "shielding" or thicker plastic hoping you'll buy into it. Most people do but if you measure inductance and capacitance between Monster's regular cables compared to 10.00 Radio Shack cables, they're exactly the same. Silver content in wire will make a difference, not thickness or what frickin' color the sheath is.

That's possible, though I do have a HDMI cable that is around 15ft long and it works just fine.

For digital cables it doesn't matter. The cables are sending bits and bytes, 1's and 0's. The 1's or 0's either get there or they don't. A better cable is needed for analog sound and can make somewhat of a difference. You won't get a cleaner picture or a warmer picture based on the digital cables. Unless the cables are really really bad, it won't matter what you get.

The biggest improvement i've ever noticed from any "Monster products" was in their Line conditioners and their speaker wire.
Their powerbar 1100 helped get rid of a nasty problem I had in an old apartment I lived in. In this apt. Whenever the fridge compresser kicked on, my tv would kick off momentarily then, come back on....or I would get interference like a transparent line in the set when it would do that. I'd also get a random & intermittant static popping sound out of my speakers. I tryed the Aquoustic research one first and it did NOTHING!!! (but give me more outlets ofcourse) I then returned that and decided to spring the extra for the monster, and it immediately cured the issues I was having. The speakerwire also gave me a broader dynamic range in my audio and I will use it on every system going forward. As the above poster mentions, for digital cables IE digi coax/optical/DVI/HDMI it's probably a waste....but analog cables....they definately can be worth it depending on lengths, and your environment. I get em at 5% over cost or 60% off retail, so I use monster on just about everything...matter of fact I have an order in right now for Monster component cables for my: xbox360,ps3 & original xbox...i got all of them, including the optical cables for each shipped to my door for $100.16 ![]() |

I'll second monoprice. Years back I fell for the whole "Monster..." hype. While they are indeed good cables they are many many times overpriced.
