I have tried to search but couldnt find the answer, and I am sure people on here are sick of being asked about cables. According to the Monster website, the cables come in 500HD, 700HD, 800, 1000 etc and to maximize your 120HZ TV you need the 1000HD model. Could anyone please confirm if this is a load of crap or you really do need the best of the best?

I have ordered from Monoprice three times now and have nothing but nice things to say. In fact I have a Component cable due to arrive today. $23 including standard shipping. Shipping is usually 5 week days. I ordered Sat night and it will be here today. Monoprice is in CA and I live in MD. Coast to coast via UPS not too bad. Also the customer service is really great. I did have one of 3 HDMI cables with a bad end and it was promptly replaced. I work a lot with communications cables and failures do happen so it was no big deal to me. Hope this helps you out. No need to spend a lot for a name that no one will ever see. |

I called Monoprice to find out what the differences are, the guy i spoke to said "other companies...." (i read: Monster) "put limiters in their cables to make you need to buy their more expensive version" (hence 500, 700, 800 1000 series), and that Monoprice has full functionality in all their V1.3 cables... thanks guys for putting me on to them

I unfortunetly found this site AFTER the "expert" at Best Try convinced me that I needed to spend $260 on TWO monster cables.. found this site, ordered monoprice, saw NO differance, returned the "better" cables and haven't been to BB since...

The cable quality is important especially for the longer lengths (10 meters and above), however, almost any cable would work for normal lengths like 3 meters. Also, wish to note that the cable quality does not always reflect on the price. i.e there could be expensive cables but low quality. IMO, testing is the best option. It is a big advantage if you could return the cable if it is problematic. Always use 1080p for the testing. |

All 3 of the cables that performed unsatisfactorily on BD did work perfectly on other devices, such as my HD cable box, and standard def DVD player. The bit rates of Blu-Ray are very high, especially if you push uncompressed PCM through it at the same time as 1080p video. If your cable is not up to it the result will not be good. That doesn't mean an expensive cable is guaranteed to work or that a low cost cable can't work. It's all a matter of the cable being capable of handling the bandwidth you throw at it without any loss. If your cable looses bits because it is too long or not of good quality or whatever the reason is, the results are going to suck. |

so totally with you there. I hate best buy and will not step foot in their store again. they are always trying to sell you something you don't want...i.e. overpriced equipment, reward zone card, magazine subscription, etc. Besides CD's (which most people don't even use anymore- IPOD's ftw), their prices on everything else sucks.

![]() i have a monster hdmi and two others, not the cheapest but far cheaper then the monster and all perform exactly the same with everything from bd playback 1080p with pcm to regular dvd to x360. monster has a hell of a marketing program and cocaine is a hell of a drug. |

One other thing is that your TV being 120Hz is irrelevant. A display of 120Hz is produced by the TV and not in the BD player so the cable wouldn't make any difference in that regard. I'm another satisfied monoprice.com customer for HDMI cables. I highly recommend them. |

The 1.3 spec (as I understand it) requires 10 gigabytes per second (GPS). So the answer to your question is yes.
