Monster HDMI cables are very overpriced. Just go to monopricecables.com, at least I think that's the website, it may just be monoprice.com. Their cables are of the same quality as Monster, but cheaper. You don't have to worry about shielding since it's a digital signal. Gizmodo and other sites have tested the cables, and unless you're getting a 35-footer, don't get rooked by Monster.

Yeah, I don't want them any bigger than 2 meters, I heard the difference is usually the same under 2 meters.

I finally got an LCD tv that does 1080 P. I'm soon going to get the Onkyo 605 receiver. The only thing I will have hooked up will be an upconverting DVD player and my PS3. So two HDMI cables will run into the receiver and one will run from the receiver to the TV. I saw that Sony released some HDMI cables for the PS3, are they any good?

FYI. The PS3 upscales DVDs.

Trust me, dont buy monster cables, they are incredibly over priced.

Do some research and you'll find that the overwhelming majority of users of all forums will say monster cables are overpriced and unneccesary.

Also recommend bluejeanscable.com I liked them better than monoprice, but they are still super cheap.

Monster Cable? I got an HDMI cable from Amazon for $2, and you know what? It works perfectly. If Monster made USB cables, they'd cost $90.

Don't believe the marketing hype for Monster products.

As noted by others, you can buy $6 HDMI cables elsewhere that are equal in quality.

I bought Belkin 2 meter HDMI cables through Buy.com.

I think MM was referring to a region free dvd upscaler. PS3 will only upscale the dvds from that region.

I have a $24 monoprice.com HDMI 1.3a cable and I have the brand new Monster M1000 HDMI cable that is $150. I put my face right up in the screen and couldnt tell one bit of difference. Couldnt tell any difference with the sound on my reciever either. Cables make much more of a difference with an analog signal. HDMI is all digital so you dont need to spend $150 on a cable anymore.

A digital signal is less sensitive to cable quality than analog signals are so you can save some money if you have a short run. If your run is longer or you have equipment that is sensitive to the cable quality then you will need to recognize that Monster does make a better cable. In my job as an IT manager in a school environment, we use long runs, 25 to 50 feet, and you can see the difference immediately. We also can see the difference when using the PS3 to drive our large scale canon 1080p video projector on a 27ft diagonal screen. Image looks great with monster cable but monoprice cable is full of noise. This is a 3 meter cable and not what some say is the length problems occur.

Default HDMI cables

I use a site called mycablemart.com

I have purchased many cables from them and have had great results. Their prices are cheap also (Monster is nothing but name for their price). Their website also provides info between their cables and the brand names and what difference (if any) there may be.

Yeah, I'll probably need 2 one meter cables and 1 two meter cable, so the distance isn't big. I'll try Monoprice.com. THanks guys!!

As amusing as that typo is in this context, it's even worse here - Monster HDMI cables for $180.

The bottom 2 are thicker cables, but isn't really going to benefit you, just go with the cheapest of the 3.

Thicker would be good when you are going over 6 feet, right?
