Default Does the cost of gas affect your BD purchases?

Dude! I dont think it will ever stop...$3.50 a gallon and now I cutting back on my BD purchases, sold my truck for a car just to have some money so I can still purchase blu-rays. Just want to know if its me or is this affecting everyone.

I paid 3.78 yesterday, and that was at the cheap place.

A little over a year ago I bought a Prius, which helps, but gas is still a pain, from my long drive to wrk. These past couple weeks I've spend 30 bucks per week on gas, sompared to the 20-25 I've been paying the past year. If I still had my old car though, I'd be paying 120 at LEAST.

I do notice myself staying in on weekends more. But that just means buying from Amazon, instead of the b&m stores, which works out since Amazon is usually cheaper anyway.

I hate these topics. I'm writing a white paper entitled, "Rising Gas Prices in a Troubles Market" where I more or less make the point that gas is not the issue, its the loans attached with the vehicles we drive.

Gas is such an issue because we don't see the value of it like other purchases. It is also something that we purchase more regularly. Most people buy gas and groceries on a weekly basis. There is not as much whining about the increase in food costs, but gas on the other hand...

Anyway, back to the thread. $3.88 roughly in San Jose, CA area. Expect it to hit $4 average across the US by summer, settling back to $3.50 - $4 average in the US by the end of the year. Like the previous post, Amazon = $0 in gas. If you still pay for shipping, get prime either by buying into it or selling your four extra spots.

I think raising gas prices is an issue. I think it's a factor with the increase in the cost of living. After all increasing gas prices will have an effect on food prices simply because it cost more to deliver them to the store.

I think people are confused by what the OP meant. He did not mean the gas it takes to drive and get a movie, he means spending more money in gas taking away from free spending money we have left on our checks. The extra 50-80$ I am spending on gas lately a month certainly cuts into my extra spending including Blu-ray here and there. In fact I have not bought a Blu-ray for months. Been too broke lately and gas is certainly a contributing factor among other things for me.

3.89. $55-$60 to fill up. ...and not giving a damn about how much I pay - not affecting my 2-3 Blu-ray a week purchasing motto.

Sure, I'll read it. Although I have to say I don't have a car loan right know so that's not a problem for me.

Good point. Let's say you have a 15 Gallon tank and you need to fill up every week.
Gass at $2.99/G = $44.85 a week or $2332.20 a year
Gass at $3.99/G = $59.85 a week or $3112.20 a year.

$780 a year you have less to spend on other things.

Hasn't affected my purchases yet.

I don't really track the gas prices close enough to know what it is currently. Trying to work it out based on how much I paid last time to fill the truck, it's probably around $3.50 for regular unleaded ($95 / 27 gallons = $3.52). The car needs premium but I can't even guess on that one since I can't recall how much I paid to fill it last time.

I have been driving the car more though. The truck only gets around 14.x mpg while the the car gets around 19-22 mpg (around town) depending on how I drive it. But, since the car needs premium maybe it's all a wash in the end. I haven't tried to track that yet to see if it helps or not.

People are whinning about the food prices. What people fail to understand that gas effects every product in every market. If gas goes up everything will go up. Without gas there is no product. Everything under the sun is plastic ever think of where that comes from? You got it oil. If you don't think that gas prices will not impact Amazon prices then you are crazy. They will pass the price onto you sooner or later. You may need to wait until your prime runs out but there may be a clause in there about that as far as I know.

Investors and tree huggers will continue to drive the price up. Investors will get away with it until people reduce consumption while tree huggers will only get worse.
