Default Madden Frustration

I vowed that I wouldn't play Madden online against anyone I didn't know because of the issue with people quitting and trash talking, but over the weekend I decided to give it a go. I played two games and both of them were a complete waste of time. The first guy I played had the Eagles and I had the Raiders. We had a really good game going, but when I was going to win it with a field goal, the guy pulled the plug. I sent him a message asking what happened and he didn't respond. The next game I played with Pittsburgh and the guy had Minnesota. My defense was solid and I shut down AD. His d was solid also. I drove the ball down the field and scored right before halftime. The score was 6-0. Before I could even kick the field goal the guy pulled the plug. This is frustrating because dudes should just take their losses like men. It's just a game, so why quit whenever you lose. The sad part is that I'm definitely not the best Madden player. Sure I'm decent, but not the best. And if these guys quit on me, then they are gonna be in for a rude awakening when they take on some of these guys who game all day. I guess for now I'll just play my franchise with the NINERS!!..... And play Metal Gear

Thats right, GO NINERS on demolishing the Packers!
Last year I decided to play Madden Online for the first time but wasn't impressed because the gameplay was sooooo slow and frustrated me. Anyways, I did lose a lot of games and accepted my failures but like I said the gameplay was so slow I just couldn't continue anymore.

I agree, it's just cowardly to pull the plug on a loss. I have only played Soul Calibur online, but I have the good graces to take my beatings like a man. Even in that match against a Taki that was totally owning me with this impressive combo string that never allowed me to get in one lick, I took the loss and moved on. I'm not that great at any games, I just love to play them. This is especially weak since you were only winning by a narrow margin, I would consider it a moral victory to lose a game that closely. One of my favorite SC4 matches was a loss, but we went the full 5 rounds and my opponent only had a sliver of health left when I lost. In fact, those kind of losses encourage me to come back and try again.

You should check their DNF % before playing them and it should tell you if they are likely to quit when they are losing.

I've been playing the franchise mode and some of these new changes are bit irrating as well.

I wish I can trade off Alex Smith. lol.

Welcome to online gaming. A lot of people do not like to lose and will just leave. This is how it works. Its best to get into good gaming groups with adults so you steer clear of such incidents, but it happens.

You should get a set number (like 3) quits/250 games, this is not to include system errors. if you use more than 3 quits, you are no longer able to quit the game, you must forfeit giving your opponent a win and yourself a loss.

I generally don't like online head-to-head for this very reason. They need to enforce rules better. If you quit then not only does the loss count, but you get 2 losses (though the "winner" still only gets 1 win).

They need to ensure the integrity of the process otherwise it's meaningful and frustrating.

thats real tough to do in a new game though. if he has only played 2-3 games online hes got a realitively good DNF % as long as he won/DNF those games.

The next time that you are playing someone that may be apt to do this kind of thing, turn the tables on them and quit right after you take the lead.

I'm pretty terrible at Madden, but wouldn't mind playing some online games with people who aren't jerks. I've played a couple of 09 games, but everyone of them dropped. Feel free to look me up if you want to pad your ranking and/or ego. LOL

Same stuff happens with any game.

Kill the host while he's carrying the flag in Warhawk and often the sore losers will kick you from the server. Do it in a close game with time ticking down and it's pretty well a guaranteed boot.

It's sad when you are directly confronted by just how much people suck even when you are only trying to have a little fun.

My son gets mad when people quit on him in MLB '08. I wish that the people got tagged not only as quiters, but there should be a special badge that says, "This guy quit when he was getting his ass kicked by a 9-year-old."

Obviously, anyone who quits like that doesn't accept failure. Plus, with a habit of not finishing what you started sticks to people their whole lives.

MS did something similar with Xbox Live Cheaters.

They know have a mark on their gamertag that says "I am a cheater." Good stuff if you ask me.

Sony should do something similar to what MS did because there's no point in playing if there's no penalty when someone quits without reason.

Yeah, it just sucks to have fun playing a game, and then all of a sudden have it end because of a sore loser. That's why I will now steer clear of playing anyone blindly. That's also why I prefer games like Call of Duty 4 online. As long as the host doesn't quit.... it's all good.
