I just hooked up my BD390 to my Sony STR-DE545 (pretty old receiver) via 5.1 analog connection. The video on the BD player is outstanding. However, I am having some audio issues. My old DVD player was connected by optical. My current TV-DVR-receiver connection is optical. What I am finding is that the analog 5.1 BD sound is much lower and a little bit muffled when compared to the optical connections. I even turned my receiver from the "5.1" selection to the "TV" selection and the audio sounds louder and richer on "TV", which is connected via optical. In order to get the sound on the 5.1 to be at a decent level, I have to turn the volume up pretty darn high, much higher than for TV... What is the problem here? What settings should I have everything on? Thanks for your help!

You need to raise your LFE 10 to 15 dB.

There is no way to increase LFE on the 5.1 setting, only on the TV setting. I was able to increase the center, front, and rear speaker settings by 6db, though...

Are you sure.
You don't want to increase the other speakers. LFE is trimmed down from the player to the receiver, the other channels are not. You may want to just use the digital output. I also have an older receiver with analog inputs (denon avr 1800). It took a while, but I figured out that on the analog config I was able to individually adjust the channel volumes on the receiver. I just added 10 dB to the LFE and everything sounds great. I think you would bypass the 5.1 setting? You need to hit some sort of external inputs setting on the receiver.
