Hi. This question is actually for my Dad's new set-up. He just bought the LG BD390. He will be playing it along with a Bose 1,2,3 set-up. I understand that this player has onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. What does he need to set the audio to on the LG player to get the lossless audio to pump through his speakers?

I work in electronic sales and that player does have onboard decoding. The problem is that it outputs the high definition audio formats through a multi channel analog audio out. With the 3,2,1 there is no input for those formats. The only option he has with that system is basic dolby digital and dts. Depending on where you bought it, I would consider taking it back for the sony 360 or panasonic 60. The reason being that you paid extra for the onboard decoding of the new audio formats. If he wants the new audio formats his only option is a new receiver/audio system. I'm sorry. . . .

Just got the LG 390; have an old Integra Receiver DTR 9.1, it came with a DB25/6 female RCA "adapter" (it promised 5.1 or 7.1 audio). Problem is the LG has 8 multichannel outputs, so used 6 RCA (male/male) to do the connection to the "adapter" (It is color coded for each speaker). Will have the LG do the decoding for losless audio as I do not have the upgrade ($500!!) in my receiver
The LG is conected to a Samsung 65" TV (65A) thru HDMI 1.3, have tried all the different variations under "HDMI" but audio keeps coming thru TV's speakers. Integra DVD input is set to "Multichannel : Yes" 1-) Am I doing something wrong or not doing something I should? 2-) If I get a DB 25/8 male RCA cable, would I be able to get better audio, losless?? Appreciate your input |
