Default How to uninstall firmware

I have a sumsung bdp 1400 player. Just installed the latest firmware. resulting in half of my blu rays not working or loading. ie underworld - rise of lycans, t2, zack and miri and slew of others. Is there a way to unsitall the firm where or am i stuck till a new patch comes out. i should i look for a new player. I am thinking between a PS3 or the new LG BDP 390. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Rolling back firmware on any device is very hard, and on some it's just not possible. You could try looking into it through contacting the manufacturer or googling "roll back firmware" and your player model #, but chances are you're going to be out of luck.

I will say that while the PS3 has it's detractors, it is far and away the most compatible player on the market. Outside of having some slow startup since the newest firmware myself, I've never had a single problem playing any movie on it.

You're stuck, regrettably. Can't go backwards with firmware. And get a Panasonic DMP-BD60.

If you have a copy of the old firmware,... it will usually install right over the current one,.... but not always. You will need to have a copy of the firmware you want on a CD,... as I doubt the MFR will still be posting it on his web site. Insert the CD will the firmware and follow directions as usual to overwrite what is currently on the player. The Samsung site is showing ver. 2.0 for the 1400. It was put out back in December. There were a lot of software changes to the Blu-Ray discs since then. I would contact Samsung. They should be ready to release a new firmware for this unit.

The other option you can try,.... if all else fails,....because this is NOT a certain fix,.... is to find another MFR using the same chipset as Samsung. The 1400 uses a "Sigma SMP8634C" chipset.

I used to go back and forth between Samsung and Phillips firmware on a Phillips player because they had the same chipset (not Sigma). Search through the player specs on this web site for chipset specs.

My thoughts are that you will find that the 1400 simply does not have the hardware to handle the newer BD's,... no matter what firmware is installed,... as it is a basic 1.0 profile player.

If you can't find an older firmware,.... and don't feel comfortable trying the "chipset" fix,.... then the only option is to buy a newer profile 2.0 player. There are several out there,... everyone has their own favorites. I have had good luck with the Samsung line,.... it's a matter of preference, just like cars. I would surf this site and see what problems have been coming up for what players before making a decision.

As other said, the 1400 wasn't that amazing. My friend had it and he had so much toruble with it. Two months ago he got the SOny 550 and let me tell you that player is incredible. I wish my BD-1500 would stop playing so I could go get one myself
