Problem with PS3

I have been using my PS3 as a bluray player for awhile now, works great.
but recently during the middle of a movie the movie will just freeze, and you can try to rewind but its really glitchy, so in the end you have to restart the whole console and then when you try to reboot the disc you sometime get an error 8057650 message saying it is invalid disc.
have any PS3 owners had this issue or something similar, is it an easy fix?

I had a similiar problem with mine... Would play any downloaded content fine. Discs would play for a bit then freeze, after restart it would say invalid disc.

I ended up needing a new drive, they said the laser was going. If you bought your PS3 within the year its a free fix. If not it will cost ya a bit... or you can check out Marine Mike's DIU thread and try your luck.

I have had a simlar problem with 2 movies

They will play for a little while and then just freeze. I have over a 100 blu's and they are the only two that seem to have the problem. I even had them replaced and still they freeze up

just got mine back took about 10 business days

do you just call sony and send it in?
and what causes the "diode" or whatever to go out.
is it because i watch so many movies or is there another factor for it going out?

for a 150 it is still money. you should do what one of my friends did, he got his friends warranty and had it fixed for free.

if i were to do that, would i need his serial number or any info that he would have?
