Default Acoustic Audio, Premier Acoustic, Bic America

I was about to pull the trigger on an Acoustic Audio Sub a couple of months ago but found a sale on the monitor 60's that I couldn't pass, now I'm going to go for the sub but other brands call my name. Is either the Acoustic Audio 12" RW NR, the Premier Acoustic PA-120 and the Bic America V-1220. I heard good reviews on the three of them. Unfortunately I can't test them since I live in Mexico so I have to rely on reviews and personal experiences, thanks in advance

I can personally vouch for the pa-120, and there is a massive amount of people on here who will probably vouch for the acoustic audio subs. It's going to come down to personal taste, price and convenence. I'm sure you would be happy with any of those choices.

D1 nailed it. I have both and love both. The build quality is better on the PA and looks better. The AA goes lower and is louder. Now you have to decide. Sorry man.

Thanks fo the input, it helps a lot coming from a guy who has both. I love the looks of the PA, especially in cherry, but I think I'm going to go for the AA, it seems to perform better (correct me if I'm wrong please) and is cheaper, not much but still.

In what finish do you have it? the AA, cherry or black? I really want it cherry (mybe because of the PA's looks) but in the picures it seems that it's to bright and when it comes to cherry I prefer it a bit darker

+1 on the HDSUB12

Great looks, great price and killer performance... can't really go wrong with this sub. This is my only sub, but since I got this one i've been paying way more attention to other peoples units. And it really performs great... i'm working on getting another SUB12 very soon.

I have the black. All my gear is black so I wanted to keep that way. The cherry are very very nice looking as well.

the PA-120 is definitely a contender, and is one of the best in this 'class' so to speak. its not easy to consider purchasing either of them, as long as you may find more replies from others, and finding out details thru careful research.

jae has the PA if im not mistaken, and has opted to choose it aside from the HDsub. its also a matter of feedback. find out from most of the users here what sounded best, and evaluate which of the feedback is more precise, actually and unbiased.

in my account, ive had the hdsub for quite some time, and love the sound it produces. its not boomy, nor muddled. sure it took time to break in, but when push comes to shove, and the LFE signal is there, its time to play ball.

ive considered it to be more of a movie sub, instead of a musical one. ive also continued using my older subwoofer with it, pairing it out of phase to get better response and playtime between em.

best of luck.

thanks a lot for everyone's help, I'm going with the HD-sub12, I just need to decide the finish. All my speakers are black but I don't like that much the gray part of the sub. How gray is it? In photos it looks kind of "Standard" gray, so to speak, like cellphone gray

Read thru posts 186-195 -- Just an FYI - I'm Not trying to change your mind as I'm in the same boat, though I'm kind of leaning towards the PA-120 myself. Either way, good luck!

Dunno that you can go wrong on either of them. Personally I love my PA-120 and would definitely buy another one if I felt I needed to do so.

Yours is just on that little carpet or something (per your pics), correct? Looks to me like your room is a bit more open than mine, so it's cool that only ONE Sub seems to be doing the job for you (as I'm sure either the HD or PA will be that much More impressive with my #2 Sub evening things out).

I agree the PA build quality looks solid and has better WAF. But the difference for me is doesn't go as low as the AA.

If YOU can "hear" the difference (20hz vice 24hz) then you probably just heard the Dog Whistle I just blew too, huh? -- Seriously, "That" is a slight difference in the grand scheme of things IMO.

A dog whistle is on the other end...well beyond 20000hz . It's widely accepted normal hearing is between 20hz-20000hz. Some studies have found subjects hearing as low as 15hz

It's funny how everytime I read your posts I read them with Steve Tyler's voice. I can't help but imagine that's your voice

Lol - not quite, but thanks. I've met him (& the band) a few times, very cool guy, slightly High-strung obviously, but nice still. When his book comes out (Nov.), hopefully He too will do a book signing tour like Joey Kramer did -- then I'll have to change my Avatar for the pic with him & myself.

(btw--name of Tyler's book: "Does The Noise In My Head Bother You?" - classic Tyler-ism if there ever was one, huh?)
