Thumbs down My Toshiba just died

Turned on the TV to watch some news and i get disco lights instead.

Turns out the 42rv530u has been known to blow a few boards.. good thing I got a warranty.. now i'm without a tv for a week till the parts arrive.

I have only had the TV for a little over a year.

Ugh, that sucks. At least it's covered for you. As someone who just went through having a component go bad, I can empathize.

Sorry to hear.

This should serve as an example to people to get that warranty JUST IN CASE!

So it turns out the Power board and the Mother board are fine (swapped out for new units). Its the acual lcd panel that has gone bad. Looks like I may be getting a new TV. The repair guy said that lcd TV's have a high failure rate and its what's keeping him in business... kinda makes me wonder what i should buy next, plasma? . Ether way i'm getting the warranty again.

Just be thankful that your Internet or computer didn't go out at the same time!

Default ** Update **

Warranty Company sending out a check for the price I payed for the TV 1 year ago. Today picked up the Toshiba 46xv645u for the same price plus I got another warranty +4"

Also they did not want my old 42" but i couldn't just throw her away.. I decided to look up flashing lcd tv symptoms and there seems to be an easy fix by replacing the master and slave backlight inverter boards ($30 each on ebay). The tech never bothered replaceing those so there might be a chance she's just in a coma..

Might of got a free tv out of it!

I think I have the same model Toshiba that you have. It has been going strong for a year and five months. (Though I only use it for about 8-10 hours a week!) Man, if mine goes out, no warranty to bail me out so I'm hoping that maybe your set was just a lemon.

Good luck with your 46". And let me guess... you got the warranty again?!
