I am looking to get a blu ray player and have narrowed my choices down to these: Samsung 3600, LG 390, or the Pioneer 320. I currently have the Samsung LN46B750 and really want to get the most from my tv. I am not concerned with online content such as netflix or youtube. I just want the best player that puts out the best picture and audio quality from this bunch. If there is another player that is around the $399 price ranges that you would recommend over these please let me know. Thank you in advance.
P.S. Mods please dont move this to the "help me decide" forum because I have posted in there and have not gotten any responses. Thank you so much |

Yeah I know that cnet rated the LG as being tops and then the samsung third. But I've heard really good reviews on the pioneer 320. And I want to know if the pioneer can beat out the samsung and LG. We know the LG is not the nest player on the market at around that price range because for $100 more the OPPO is suppossed to blow them all out of the water. Any more input from others? Would you recommend the Pioneer over the rest? Or are they all pretty much in the same ballpark in terms of picture and audio quality?

I just got a Pioneer 320 today. Excellent player. Not sure I would trust Samsung or LG as much if you are looking for quality and reliability. Doesn't have the streaming capabilities, but I have a PC for that. Pio has reportedly the best PQ and AQ of these three players.

Thank you so much for replying and helping me out. Yeah I was leaning more towards the pioneer because of what - have been reading about it despite the fact that cnet did rate the LG 390 as number one. Glad to know someone that has the Pioneer and does indeed enjoy it. And yes like you I don't need toe net streaming part of it because I have a PC for that. Anyone else that may own the samsung, LG, or the Pioneer that would like to voice their opinion. I would trust Samsung with their quality, well with the tv that I have anyway. But again I am looking for the best Blu Ray Player in the $399 price range that puts out the best picture and audio quality. Any more opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone else have any opinions on which player has the best picture and audio quality within the $399 price range. Either the samsung 3600, LG 390, or the Pioneer 320? Again I have the samsung LN46B750 and am running it straight to the tv, no receiver, via HDMI cable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I have the samsung LN46B750 running straight HDMI with the blu ray player...no receiver, no sound system...just trying to find the best player with the best PQ and SQ for my tv...anyone's opinions would be appreciated...thank you |

In myself have the Samsung bd-p3600 and am VERY happy with it...especialyy after finding certain features I was looking for SURPASSED expectations....
I would suggest you make a list (regardless of make/model) of what you want/need and may want/need in the future then list makes/models that have most/all of your list... If you go with ppls opinins, well, u know what they say about that..right.. Plus everyone (myself included) is biased towards something using their experience. |

After reading of all the audio sync issues with the LG (not just with watchmen), I would not recommend it until LG gets their firmware update out to address it
I personally won't do samsung again for BD player(after I gave them a 2nd chance once before). I won't debate it, it's not the thread for it, just my personal experiences with 2 recent model samsungs and the piss poor samsung customer service. The 320 is very similar to my pio 51fd's which I absolutely love. If you decided on a 320 and don't care for bd-live and a couple of the other additional features of the 320, you might be able to score a 51fd at bestbuy for $149 (or less). |

ok thank everyone...yeah i know the OPPO is suppossed to be the best on the market but it's just a bit out of my price range...especially considering I dont have a home theater system or anything like that...currrently I have the Samsung 1600 and enjoy it but I want to get a better one if at all possible like I said in the $399 price range...I am leaning towards the Samsung 3600 amd the Pioneer 320...so as far as picture quality and sound quality would you say that both of these are pretty much on the same level?

yes I know the OPPO is the best out there right now...but it's a bit out of my price range...especially considering the Pioneer 320, Samsung 3600, and LG 390 can be found for below retail...so with the Samsung LN46B750 that I have which would be the best for me as far as picture and sound quality?....i currently have the Samsung 1600 and I am not concerned with online content...with that being said...which would everyone recommend...all opinions are welcome...thank you again

That said, I got Samsung's 3600a and am so far very happy with it. Compared to the 1400 it replaced, the audio is out of this world. Plus it includes the 1G of memory needed for streaming AND the wifi dongle comes with it. I went into Best Buy with the intent of getting the Sony 360, but seeing as that doesn't come with the memory or the dongle, for $50 I got the Samsung (which was on sale at the time, good deal!). It's good to get others' experience with machines, but one thing I'll say is don't trust user reviews posted on the sites. I've purchased products that got terrible user reviews that have worked perfectly. I've also purchased products that were very highly rated by users that were terrible. The previous recommendation to make a list of what you want/need/WILL need in a player is a very good one. You have a price range you want to work with, which is good too. With those in hand, head to the store to see the different models in action. Just remember, video quality is important (of course ![]() Best of luck to you with your decision. Please let us know what you finally decided. ![]() |

yeah the problem is here at the local best buy they are not running the 3600 or the LG 390...they have them just on sale...they run the 1600 and the 370 to the tv's...why they have it like that I have no idea...and we don't have the Pioneer 320 here in store...the last time i called they said they were sold out and had no idea whether more were coming in or not...i just want to make sure I get the best player for my hdtv...right now the 1600 looks great and i dont plan on using the online content because I don't really care for it and I just want the best PQ...most people said that across the board in this price range all the picture quality will be the same...i definitely want good audio quality as well but the BD wise is something that Im still confused about...still trying to figure out whether it actually helps or not...so for those that have one of the three players mentioned or even the OPPO please let me know what your opinions are....PQ and AQ...thanks again

Most comparisons I have seen indicate the Pio 320 has a slightly better PQ and AQ than the other players you are considering. That was why I chose the 320, and I am very happy with my decision. PM me and I can tell you where to get it for <$300 shipped.

yeah that's what I've been hearing...but also others saying that around this price range most Blu Ray players will have the same PQ although they may have different AQ...have you compared the 320 against the 3600 or the 390 in terms of PQ? I would like to have the best AQ as well but I am running the unit straight to my B750 so I don't know how much the AQ will come into play. But I definitely want the best PQ that I can get...any more opinions on any other these players?

I just wanted to thank everyone for their responses. I've heard from those that have the samsung and LG. For those of you who do own the Pioneer 320 I'd like to know what your opinion on the player. And if you have it and have also owned the 3600 or 390 and can give a comparison in terms of PQ and AQ, because I have no local store that carries the 320 so there is no way for me to compare it on my own, I would greatly appreciate it
