Default ps3 vs samsung 3600

I have a PS3 and a Samsung 3600! I got to sale one of them and don't know which one! I already got XBOX 360 Elite that I play more than the PS3 but I use my Ps3 for storing media on and Movies. Like on it's 500 gb hard drive. The only reason I like the Samsung player is that it can Bit stream. Is bit streaming that Much better that the ps3 Handling it?

Bitstream is only good for showing up the Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD-MA audio on your receiver. The PS3 converts the hd audio to LPCM. The end result is the same. Unless you have some high end gear bitstream or pcm shouldn't make a difference. Even then...the end result should be the same no matter what gear you have. As long as the receiver can do PCM or accept DTHD or DTSHDMA by bitstream.

I always thought that the PS3 decodes internally and delivers PCM for lossless. Isn't bitstreaming for if you want your receiver to decode?

Correct. Ps3 decodes HD audio internally and sends it out as PCM to receiver. The bitstream is for the receiver to decode. End result should be the same. The ps3 won't bitstream HD audio if that is what you were wondering.

The ps3 isn't as good as 3600 bitstreamung as it can't bitstream HD audio. It really is a matter of personal preference. You want your receiver to light up dolby truehd or dts HD-ma then go with 3600. Both do HD audio...just different way of decoding/transmitting it.

Well no point in having 2 players if not needed. Id move Ps3 to another tv in bedroom or something. Or xbox and 3600 to bedroom...if no need for 2 players...sounds like selling ps3 be your way to go.

NO. They sound identical.

If the only reason you like the Samsung is for bitstreaming...then sell it. Seems like you get alot more use out of the PS3.

You made a good choice, the picture quality is much better on the Samsung. It's one of the first BDP's to use an HD A/V processor of Samsung's own design.

Audio wise I'm not getting into another Bit vs PCM debate, the audio on the Samsung has more depth and clarity than the PS3, regardless of PCM or Bit output.

Since you have a Harmony 1100, and I'm just saying this for ease of use and less clutter (PS3 people, don't get your little panties in a bunch), keep the Samsung.
