Default 720p Blu-Ray picture quality?

Hi, I am going to get a 26 inch 720p tv for college, which it doesn't accept 1080p, i wanted to know, how do Blu-Ray movies look with the resolution set to 720p instead of 1080p?

they will look awesome. at the end of the day a 26" screen will not give all the benefits of 1080p, the difference between 1080p and 720p will really become apparent when you get in to screen sizes of 42" and up!

it will look great, get your tv, you will love it

my kid is in college too and she has a 720p screen about the same size or smaller and the OTA stations that broadcast in 720p look incredible as well as the 1080i. what i'm trying to say is i think you'll be fine and for a screen that size, imo, you really wouldn't benefit too much from 1080p over 720p for the screen size. it's really when you get into the 46" and above sizes that the 720p models are shown up by the 1080p models.

make sure it has a digital tuner so you can get OTA tv, remember, everything is digital now so if you got one with an analog (old) tuner in it, you will need either a cable box or a digital tuner box to get OTA tv. if your dorm or apt has cable tv, some providers have not changed their signals so you might be in luck. if your tv has the digital tuner you cool. also, if it has an hdmi or component inputs then if you get hd cable service you'll just use either of the HD connections.

best of luck!

Unless your planning to sit about 2 feet from the TV 1080P wont matter on a 26 inch screen.

It looks fine, my "Home Theater" has the same size TV at 720P.
You can definitely tell a difference between regular DVD (480) vs BD .and it will show the clarity of Blu Ray, 1080p wouldn't have look any difference with such a small screen.

At that size, there won't be any difference between 720p and 1080p...unless of course your nose is touching the screen.

You will not see any difference unless you use the display as computer monitor or at about that distance. i.e. unless your seating distance is 2 to 3', it is unlikely you would gain much. Nevertheless, blu-ray in 720p mode will give significant improvement over DVD (480i).
