Default Samsung or Sony?

I'm looking on getting an LCD for mostly gaming via an Xbox 360.

I was wondering what would be the "ideal" set for gaming? I'm looking for good PQ, little to no Input lag, and not a lot of clouding.

Any ideas?

40"-52"

EDIT: Just noticed I posted this in the Plasma Section.. Please move to LCD section.

Oops!

I don't understand why an LCD would be better for gaming?? Don't plasma's generally have way better response times? Plus, they just look better...

Default Question for Plasma Owners

quick question for plasma guys. My buddy wants to buy a HDTV. I told him he might want to look at plasma. I have LCD and am very happy, I have a very bright room. So for me it is great. How are Samsaung Plasmas? I mostly go on the LCD threads so I am not that familiar with plasma. I myself do not have a preference. I bought mine becauce of my super bright room. Any help would be great. I know Samsaung makes good products but how are their plasmas.

mroe,

I have a Samsung plasma (HP-S5053, like 4 years old) and it's been a great TV. It still easily hold it's own in PQ compared to mid range TV's being sold today. I was looking at some budget TV, one for my GF and one for my bedroom. I went in thinking Panasonic would be my easy choice, but I ended up preferring the Samsung PQ over Panny. Just my preference.

I think all in all, Sammy and Panny are neck and neck in quality. Each has their downsides. You can't go wrong with either company for a plasma.

Also, I've been PC gaming with this set for the last year and I get no IR what so ever. I even do extended sitting, like 6-8 hours sometimes. IMO, plasma's are great for gaming. ALthough, at first, I did have mild IR with this set, from normal watching. I don't know if it was a bad calibration? I never did a disc calibration until later on, just went by eye. Perhaps as the panel aged it got better with IR. I haven't noticed and IR for years with it. Never had burn in, of course... If this set could properly handle 24fps, I'd have no reason to upgrade. I wish.

Get Samsung..

I own the 52 inch Samsung 7 series LCD, and a 63inch Samsung Plasma (just got the plasma last week). Owned the 52 inch for one year now.

Bestbuy service plan with a replacement tv while its being fixed

I just got my samsung and while its an adjustment at 46'', I have not seen a single problem with it, I would have gone Plasma, but I still read enough about IR that I just didn't want to have any issue with it.
