Default pcm on ps3 with no HD Lights

If you select PCM on ps3 and you dont get the HD lights on reciever is it still true dolby hd and dts master.

If that is the track you are playing/watching, then yes...the sound is the same.

maybe, that all depends on if you have every ch/frequency option slected on the ps3 setup menu and the ps3 is set to pcm, if you have the ps3 connected via hdmi, and if you have selected the hd audio track on the bd disc. If all that is done, when you are playing the disc and you select display you should see the audio codec being used. If it says dolby trued hd/dts hdma/pcm, you are good to go.

Push "select" on your PS3 remote or controller and a menu will pop up showing you the picture and video rate playback. It will say what it's playing back in.

Yes, as others have explained. In this case, the receiver possibly couldn't recognise the pcm stream as Dolby HD or DTS HD-MA since it has been already decoded by the player and Dolby or DTS information is not available in the decoded pcm stream.
