Default Question about blu ray through pc to tv?

I just recently bought a lg blu ray disc drive for my computer and a EVGA 8400GS Video Card to play blu rays through my computer. Everything works fine when playing a movie through my computer monitor with the vga connector but when i connect my panasonic plasma (without a vga connector) with a dvi to hdmi connector it says that something is not compatable with HDCP and tells me to switch over to the vga connector. My question is what can I do to get my computer to connect to my tv that is not too expensive or do I need to buy a new video card with hdmi compatability.

Does the PS3 work when connected to the Panasonic TV with a HDMI cable playing a BD?
DVI is the same as HDMI apart from DVI does not carry audio signals ,you would need a separate audio lead ,iether analogue or digital from PC to TV or a Reciever ,otherwise DVI from PC to HDMI to your TV is the same as HDMI -HDMI.
How old is your Panasonic TV?
Is your video card HDCP complient ,how old is that ,anything older than 2 years and you could have to upgrade!!!

His video card is fine for movie playback, the geforce 8400 has all of the decoding feartures but yes this does sound like an HDCP issue. try out AnydvdHD and that should fix you right up

I have been down this road 'Any DVD HD' did not solve the problem for me on a 7900 GT not over a digital connection anyway ,there always seems to be one link in the chain that buggers everything up.
Any card over 2 years old will not playback comercial Blu-Ray over a digital connection ,i pulled my hair out for weeks and eventually had to bite the bullet and go fo a new GPU and got a 8800GT less than £100 ,since then no problems.

well the since the 8400 only came out 18 months ago it should be fine then right? a while back toms hardware ran tests with the 8400 and it was just fine for bluray playback. as long as the TV is hdcp compliant and as long as the OS and the playback software are working correctly then even a didital connection should be working. for now i say try anydvdHD

My AR190G is a June 2006 model with a 7600 GT and it plays Blu-ray fine - albeit without offloading from the CPU.

This machine has a 8400 GT and it will offload pretty much all processing from the CPU.

in amongst that lot the 7900gt was out on its own designed to be a gaming card they forgot the HDCP compliency.
Yes the 8400 should do the job just need to find where the weak link is. I have a panasonic PT-AE900 projector and i cant get that to work over HDMI,i use the anologue out from the 8800gt which isnt a problem as the Pany is 720p only ,so it seems just because it has HDMI doent mean its HDCP.

I also bought an LG Blu ray disc drive and it had so many problems i would not recommend LG Blu ray disc drives to any one. I faced a lot more problems than mentioned over here.

I'm currently running the LG BH-08 with an eVga 8800 GTS 512mb. I can play blu-ray movies flawlessly on my LG 42" TV. Doesn't seem to work on my 32" in the bedroom (gives me an 'unsupported video signal'), but it's not a big deal. I just move the computer when I need to play a region locked movie, which isn't very often.
