Dear all,
finally i am going to install my gears in my living room, it is a rectangular shaped 5.5m X 8.5m X 2.9m room ![]() anyway i am looking for some recommendations on the speakers position both height and distances within the room, and what do u recommend for the side speakers, bipole or dipole?,behind or side of the seating position, i am also planning to place the sub in the rear and not the front (i can have it then placed around 1 foot away from the corner) i'll be building a 1 foot riser for it as well so it's better to place it the back, my wife almost killed me for the speakers size, the last thing i want is to have such a big sub at the front. i don't beleive that this will harm the BASS (am i right?) any recommendations? i know the basics about speakers positioning and i am planning to have the DTS 7.1 standard layout implemented. the surrounds and side channels will be wall mounted i will not be using stands (1 yr old daughter with a second baby coming in another 6 months). as for neighbors i am only sharing the floor, above me is the roof and i am not sharing any side walls with side neighbors. thanks in advance about all your feedback, |

Forgive us Americans. We still live in the dark ages and use the British Imperial system instead of the metric system.
![]() 1 meter = 3.28 ft = 39.37 inches 1 ft = 0.305 meter = 30.48 cm = 12 inches 1 inch = 2.54 cm 1 cm = 0.3937 inches For front speakers, put the speakers at least 2 to 3 feet away from the rear wall. The tweeters of the front speakers should be approximately on the same level as your ears when you are sitting down. The surround speakers should be slightly above your head. If you use bipolar surround speakers, install them slightly behind you on the side walls and above your head. If you use dipole surround speakers, install them on the side walls at same line as your listening position and higher than your head. For regular (monopole) surround speakers, install them behind and above your head.
![]() Speaker Setup (5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 Setup) Depending on the number of speakers you plan to use in your home theater, the setup should follow one of the diagrams below: ![]() ![]() ![]() The best place for a subwoofer is normally in the front corner about one foot away from the walls. Alternatively, you can use the crawl technique to find the best spot for your subwoofer. Read A Guide to Bass Management. Last edited by Big Daddy; 09-22-2009 at 03:29 AM. |
