Default PC, PS3 or Standalone

I am faced with a choice between the following 3 for Bluray playback. There are 3 options.

HTPC - I already have a high end HTPC but no bluray. I was considering adding a bluray drive to this.

PS3 - 299.00 now

Standalone player

I am leaning towards the HTPC option as it already is my audio and TV source. The graphics card is a Nvidia 9800 GT. Some questions:

How good is PC based bluray playback compared to the other 2 options?

A good bluray standalone player looks like 300 in Canada the same price as a PS3. Can anyone share comments on comparison between the 2 platforms.

It depends on your needs. If you're into gaming, yes PS3 it is. Standalone has its own advantages. Better PQ and AQ.

You may find a lot of answers to your PC questions a couple of forums below this one in the Blu-Ray PC forums. There are several folks here that have gone that route. As for standalone vs PS3.... that's really going to be a matter of personal preference; although if your PC is your main source.... that does take away the PS3's adavantage of being a good media streamer. If you use a programable remote, a standalone will integrate into your HT easier and without the additional expense of buying a BT to IR converter.

This person has one more thing in the mix....he already has a high end PC and it would only cost him about 150 for BD drive and software together. I recommend that he goes with his PC. His PC can game and it is already his media center. It's almost a no brainer
