Hello,
New member, first post. I bought the BDP-S1 not long after it first came out. It has been a solid player. Only problems I ever had with it was when newer discs came out and had to update firmware and they all played ok. Heres the problem/question. I recently bought the new XMen and it wouldnt play so I flashed the new 4.80 software. Now XMen plays ok. Watched it and the new Fast and Furious and it played fine also. Decided to watch Lord of War and get the Cannot play disc message. Tried a few other older blu-ray discs and they play fine. I even took the disc to the local store where I buy most of my electronics and had them try it on 3 differant players, no go. Disc has never been dropped, no scratches, cleaned it too and no good. I have about 50 bluray movies and havnt tried them all so dont know if any others wont play yet and standard dvds seem to play ok . So my first question I guess is for those who have the BDP-S1 with 4.80 software. Do you have Lord of War and does it play? Another question is can you backwards flash these players or do you risk bricking it? Just asking as I was 2 flashes behind so I thought I might try to flash back to 4.40 if it wont harm the player or just sit tight till new firmware is released? I seen someone mentioned 5.0 is coming out or is out? Confirmed? I couldnt find any other info on it yet. |

I am thinking that too. Is just wierd how a disc that has been played maybe 4 times, no scratches or anything and it just wont work anymore. I wasnt sure if the newest players at store had newest software, but 1 was a samsung and didnt work on that either. I also brain farted and forgot I have a PS3 which I havnt used in over a year or better so decided to try it in that, wouldnt do anything, tried a differant disc, wouldnt work, found out I needed to turn off the 1080p/24 setting and other disc then worked, but Lord of War still didnt. I took Lord of War and cleaned it again and now when I put it in BDP-S1 it sticks on loading and basically locks the player. So I guess I will have to get a new disc or just use the 1 I have on standard dvd. Thanks for the reply Moefiz |
