I'm looking to purchase this trilogy but it seems Evil dead I isnt available on blu (or at least can't find any reviews about it)

Anyways, I could get Evil dead II, army of darkness, and well, to end up with my name is bruce (i just read bad reviews but oh well)

Any of you have them? i know the PQ and AQ suck, but i dont have them on DVD...

any thoughts?

Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness = GREAT FU**ING MOVIES!!!!!

Just buy'em. The quality of the audio and picture may not be Transformers, but they are essential in any Blu-ray collection no matter what.

Evil Dead II on BD is the absolute worst example of DNR you will ever see. It's unwatchable.

It is not unwatchable. Though it isn't the best transfer out there, it looks a lot better than any DVD release of the film. If you don't already have it on DVD, then you should pick it up on Blu-Ray.

Unwatchable? It is not perfect, but unwatchable? Don't agree on that.

I will utter those sacriledged words:Will evil dead 1 look that much better than the DVD on BD?Think it was shot on cheap stock with maybe not the best cameras there is,but I may be wrong.....

Anyone here have sampled both US release and UK release of evil dead II?Is there really that much difference as some say?Strange they didn't use the same transfer on both versions....Glad for any clarification on this

Oh yeah?

1999 Anchor Bay THX DVD (same as Studio Canal Standard & Édition Collector DVDs)

2003 Anchor Bay Book of the Dead DVD (source used for the Blu-ray)

ED2 does not look that bad. To say it's "unwatchable" is ridiculous. Is it great? No. Is it watchable? Of course.

Also, those are not even rips from the blu-ray. Just an FYI to all of you on screenshot patrol....

Well, these are the versions I have:

http://www.amazon.com/Evil-Dead-Bets...6057784&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Evil-Dead-II-S...6057784&sr=1-3

http://www.amazon.com/Army-Darkness-...057971&sr=1-24

Pretty happy with those. I have read that The Evil Dead was cropped from its OAR to 1.85:1 for the DVD. That would be my only complaint if true.

1.85:1 is the original theatrical aspect ratio, although Sam Raimi previously found it acceptable to present the open-matte transfer (4:3) on home video before the age of widescreen televisions.

Any eventual blu-ray release will likely be 1.85 or 1.78.

Nope. I think it has to do with the company that owns the rights to Evil Dead 1.

Again, those screenshots aren't from the blu-ray.
