Default Different Packaging for Saw

I just bought Saw 1 today and the cover art has silver banners going across the top and bottom of the front cover art. Also it is silver on the spine. When I look at the cover art on the internet it does not have the silver on the cover. Was there two different covers released and is there any difference with the movie.

Also just curious, is the blu-ray version the uncut version of the film.

The silver on the top and bottom and on the sides is the original packaging. Lionsgate did away with the silver lining.

Not on all titles though. The first three Rambo's, for example are still in the silver packaging.

The UNRATED cut is only 8 seconds longer and most of those 8 seconds was color corrected shots because in the theatrical cut, they had make all of the photograph shots in black & white. I read that the Blu-ray release is the Unrated cut that was slipped in by accident instead of the theatrical.

Yeah, i noticed that both the r rated and unrated are pretty much the same running time on Saw, a few slighty different scenes, just they did with the r rated and unrated versions of Robocop, both cuts pretty much run the same amount of time!

Actually Saw was one of the launch titles from Lionsgate which did not have the silver "shiny" artwork. A few of the launch titles were reissued at a later point with the new shiny cover. Saw, T2 and The Punisher spring to mind.

OTOH, Resevoir Dogs was released with the shiny cover and then a later printing dropped it and just used the artwork.

A couple of short scenes are removed in the unrated cut and minor editing and music choices but you'll be hard pushed to spot the difference. The German issue is currently the best available, English friendly and a good helping of extras http://www.amazon.de/Saw-US-Director...7165391&sr=1-2
