Default Packaging

Does anyone know what type of packaging this will be marketed in? I saw on another part of the site that the discs are packaged in a case similar to a CD jewel case. Will new movies released in this format be packaged in the standard DVD cases, standard CD jewel cases, or will entirely new packaging be developed?

I guess they'll modify it slightly so many will have to change their machines (commerce!) but it won't change dramatically I think... It's still optical media.
The answer on this question can also be the answer on this question: Were you sooo suprised when you saw DVD cases the first time? Didn't they look like VHS cases..?

When I first saw the DVD cases, I loved them ! Same with the PSP so, Blu-Ray, I think it will be the same (and I loved LD packaging too)

Packaging is yet to be determined. One can hope all of the studios will unite behind one style rather than using multiple styles of cases like in the early days of DVD. I would prefer CD jewel cases for BDs but I expect the actual BD cases will be relatively similar to the standard DVD keepcase.

I agree, this will surely help people to evolve to the Blu-Ray easily but it may involve them into trouble if they look like DVD cases...

That's very true Gorkab. If the BD cases are too similar to DVD, consumers are going to be even more confused than they already will be when HD discs hit the market.

We'll see it first with the HD-DVD but I already see it with XBOX and XBOX 360 cases
