Default What bothers you the most about packaging?

I would have to say when they put THREE stickers on the case instead of one AND when sometimes one of the top or bottom stickers sticks to the paper cover art and tears it when you open it. That pisses me off!!!! Even if your careful, you can't avoid that if the cover art has slid up above the clear plastic protector.

that would be my biggest thing as well. The other one i have is more regarding the cover art. i don't mind the swooshes and all that crap as I hardly look at the front of the movie, but I absolutely HATE Lions Gate releases with the chrome spines, it looks about as tacky as a satellite dish on a hot pink house with a burgandy door with cigarette butts all over the floor. I did notice Lord of War doesn't have it, thank God.

Agreed. Those THREE sticker strips are perhaps one of world's most irritating adhesives. Even worse than the taste of NyQuil.

Definitely have to agree with Lionsgate packaging. The chrome siding is atrocious.

has to be the bottom security sticker on the case,.. when it sticks onto the protruding cover art,.. and tears the artwork when you remove.

i find like most people though,.. remove the sticker fast and it shouldnt tear/leave residue,.. although i do have some Goo Gone on standby

Yeah...that's another thing!!! The glue!!!! Sometimes...usually with the 3 sticker setup......the glue is horrible!!!! I mean it's downright stupid!!!! You think they would be smart enough to use glue that peels completely away from the case!!! I use to think it might of been an issue with dvds.....the older they were or the longer they sat in a warehouse..... the harder the glue to come off.

interesting that newer lord of war releases don't have it but the early lord of war copies did have the chrome backing. that made me think they were thankfully moving away from that, but 3:10 has it....urgh

How about the cardboard cases for dvds?

But hey....at least they had the right type of stickers!!! They peeled smoothly away.

The little metal strip inside. And the glue, yes.

From a Packaging Scientist's(yeah....we exist) point of view, everything you are complaining about is saving stores lots and lots of money....which in turn is saving you money. The more stickers you have to peel off to steal something....the less likely you are to doing it. And the "little metal stripe"...aka...the RF Id tag...is there so that they have to spend less time doing inventory. If movies were getting stolen, they would go up in price, as it would cost the store more to have them on their shelves. Likewise if they had to pay someone to actually go and count all of the movies....thats a lot of labor. But yeah, I have the same gripes as everyone else....I just know it is a necessary evil.

Stickers...ok..... but we want it to ALL come off and don't want complimentary goo all over our collectibles! The GOO is NOT a necessary evil!

Yes, yes and YES!! Even more annoying when buying 2nd hand titles as Mr. Sixpack don't give a sh*t about ripping their cases while removing tags.

Everything stated is quite understandable,
although I can't help but notice a certain pleasure in opening a new bluray only to find one sticker to remove.

This is what enters my head every time I get to fight with the top peice of Sh_t ass tape that rips into 10 million microscopic peices that stick to my fingers...

I want to chain down the Studio heads (or whom ever responsible), and have them take these stickies off for 24 hours straight and see how they like it. The catch is that they need to remove one tape cleanly (without damaging the "protective" plastic or paper cover) once every minute or the Dude from SAW gets to do his thing...

Ahhhhh. Feel better now.
Happy Land....

the lack of steelbooks... and the stickers. FOX / WB makes me mad because I like to see the awesome art on the inside cover i.e. 3: 10, Lost and 30 days of night.

Let's see...

1. Stickers of ANY kind any where on the case.
2. Security tags placed on and in the case. Why can't these be stuck on a thin card and placed in the case. With this option there will be no goo or torn artwork.
3. The covers used in the case done by some paint monkey using Photoshop...POORLY. Use the GD original poster art. This one drives me nuts more than anyting else.
4. Some cases that use a "latch" or "clip" (for lack of a better word) on the side to keep the case closed. I usually rip those off.
5. The center clip that holds the disc either breaks causing the disc to rattle around freely in the case of the center clip so tight that it causes you to break or crack the disc when you try to remove it.

THe blue translucent top of Blu-Rays is weaker than the rest of the package. I have a few discs that were shipped to me that were cracked at the top. I got one that arrived SMASHED! Like beat to sh*t.

I also don't like the silver spines on the Lionsgate releases. The three securty stickers on cases that leave residue and rip the cover art sometimes. Also I hate how some studios have French writing on the cases on Canadian releases. Not a big fan of the snaps on the sides of the cases either.

IMO all cases should be the style WB uses and not have any stickers whatsoever, also no French writing!
