Is possible notebook with hdmi output work with av receiver? does it get both sound and video?

should, I don't know why it wouldn't. You might have to download some certain codecs to play certain video and audio, but it all depends on what you would be playing with the notebook. If you thinking of playing MKV files with the notebook, that might be kind of strenuous for that on your machine as opposed to a desktop. A standard AVI should be ok.
