Default Question about Amazon.com returns

Should I just refuse the package? On the site it says I need to print a label and include an invoice. I thought someone on here said once that you can just refuse it and have it sent back for free. Do you still get charged for shipping either way? Any help would be appreciated.

correct. just refuse it and your money--shipping included--will be refunded once they receive and process the returned item.

I have not done it myself (although I'm about to on an upcoming shipment that is too late for me to cancel), but I definately got the impression that if you refuse the delivery, you won't be charged shipping.

What do you guys mean by "refusing the shipment"? Like "return to sender"?

I have the same question as TylerDurden. How do you refuse delivery? Bring the package back to the post office and say you are refusing?

Just write "Refused Delivery" on the outside of the package and put it back in your mailbox. I have done this for 3rd party sellers on Amazon when there was a problem with my order.

From Amazon Help section

Cancelling Orders
Most orders you place on Amazon.com enter the shipping process fast so we can get your items to you as soon as possible.

* If your order hasn't shipped: You can cancel the order via the Your Account page. See Reviewing & Changing Your Orders for information on canceling orders.
* If your order has already shipped: Since orders in the shipping process cannot be modified, you'll need to refuse delivery or initiate a return when the item arrives.

While I have not ever refused an Amazon shipment, I have gone through the return process many, many times with items that arrived damaged or in an unsatisfactory condition. The automated process is pretty easy if you have access to a printer. A word of caution that Amazon has been known to cancel accounts or ban accounts that they thought were abusing the system. It is not known if refusing delivery is counted against you, even if you do get a full refund of the item.

I would probably guess that excessive refusals would result in the same ban since they may believe they are sending to an undeliverable address or they may feel someone else is ordering things without the account holders consent. Either way if it costs Amazon money (and it does) they will probably nip that in the bud if it becomes excessive.
