Just got my first death threat!

Have I finally "made it"?

A gentleman called today ranting about a settlement I worked on that involved his wife (who I did not represent). I think that he thinks he was entitled to some of the money when in fact he's not.

In any event, he was saying he has no money, no food, etc., and that he's going to kill someone. He said this 3-4 times. Later, he specifically mentioned by name a man he's "going to kill" now.

Yeah ok it may not qualify as a threat directly to me, but it's a threat nonetheless.

(P.S. We contacted the local police where he lives, and they told us that he is none to them, he has mental problems, and he has called them 100 times today. Yippee!)

Not a death threat but customers have said that they wanted to kick my @$$ when I worked for Radio Shack and I did have to call the police once or twice.

I hated my manager there. He'd hide in the back while we had to try and explain things to the customers.

He even didn't show up to the store when the alarm went off once and I had to go there and wait for the police.

A crazy woman wanted to press charges against me because I had security escort her out of the building. Later she came back throwing threats at me so I call the police and pressed charges against her. Turned out she was a mental patient who somehow escaped.

The company I work for is employed by another company to do the claims processing. So people talk to us and think they are actually talking to another company…..so they have no idea who we are or where we are located.

We actually had a bomb threat when I was in high school….complete evac and everything!!

My little town of 3,000 was talked about on the 5 o’clock news on ABC and CBS and was noted on a map in Newsweek.

That was back in 2000.

Speaking of Bombs threats, I used to live in the American Compound which is a residential compound with its own American Schools and hospitals and even theaters in Saudi Arabia, and its only for American Citizens. Anyways, the American School that I went to survived a bomb attack because it was too close to the hospital and the hospital was the target. I remember ground shaking and people running. Not a pretty picture at all.

There was threats of the school coming under attack by pissed off students who were going to be hiding guns in the soda machines just to unleash hell on everyone. Needless to say, I didn't go to school that week. And luckily, nothing happened.

When I was in high school two guys had a fight and one got really pissed off and threatened to kill him the next day. Then the next morning at about 6:45 AM the guy decided to shoot at our school bus, which was intended for the guy he had a beef with, but luckily the bullet hit the back of the bus and the way back after school we were followed by cops for safety. Everyone ducked when they heard the gun shot but I was too sleepy and just sat there thinking to myself what was going on lol. That was my first gun shot "experience" and I'd say that would also be my first death threat.

I got mugged one night, and they threatened to kill me then, but I didn't really take it seriously.

It was freshman year of high school, and I was walking home from my girlfriend's house. She lived on the opposite side of town, and I was too young to drive. Walking from my side of town to her's involved going through a pretty rough area.

No, but the thought of me killing me did happen once when I was watching "Remains of the Day". Don't worry though. You will probably die of bordom before you ever get to THAT point.

Work in law enforcement. Best one so far was gentleman sent to prison for 3 years for Felony DUI. Told me when he gets out, he will make me earn my $20 dollars an hr. Little does he know, I will be around $25 an hr when he gets out.

Talked to the local police last night. They have an entire binder on this guy and have received ~ 145 calls about him since they started the task force in May 2008.

Dude is 6'3" and 350 pounds.

Fortunately I won't miss the guy but I gotta tell you, I did sort of sleep with one eye open last night. The whole "mind playing tricks on you" thing. I've got a wife and 2 daughters, so I take stuff like this a little more seriously than other rational people might.

I hear you, and I wrestle with that. Two of the attorneys here recently bought weapons (1 a shotgun, 1 a pistol) due to a ridiculous high-profile and high-stakes case they're working on.

But I have young children. I just can't get a gun in the house with them there.

Someone made multiple threats saying "I outta Kill you,... I'm gonna Kill You". This person has been chasing me by car and the passenger noticed a construction site where prisoners were doing home construction supervised by guards. I pulled over there and my angry fella pulled up behind me and got a big board from the site and looked exactly like he was going to kill me on the spot.

A fella with a badge and gun told him that making those threats in the presence of a federal officer was a serious crime. I guess that's about all that saved me.

It was a case of a mis-understanding and a guy who was just waiting for the chance to lose control completely.

He went back and took my car battery and left the scene but later he brought it back and "apologized."
