Default HELP - DC Trigger

Well finally found something I overlooked when last shopping for a receiver, the DC Trigger - The Marantz sr4002 does not have one. It was not a big deal at the time because I really did not understand what it did. So the dilemma now is how to get around this.

I have a 12 outlet surge protector/power station 6000 or 7000 joules - can't think of the make (I'm at work) that has a 12v DC in/out which allows 4 of the outlet including the 2 high voltage units to be powered at the same time as the receiver if it had a trigger. Is there some type of external trigger that can be installed between the receiver and surge protector

We live in an automated world and I don't want to get up everytime to power up and down the amps when turning everything else off and on via la Harmony

Wait, I'm confused- your surge protector does or doesn't have power-activated outlets? There are a few kinds that do- IE when the selected outlet gets power, it also powers the one beside it. Would this not work?

You could try a simple one that has a trigger and then plugs into your power center as a cheaper solution than buying a whole new power center. Otherwise surely there's some kind of trigger solution out there for folks with equipment needs like that.

My HT room is 25ft by 20ft. I have a receiver, 7 amplifiers, one equalizer, a projector or the TV that have to be turned on and off. The amplifiers are too far apart from each other as I use some of them to power my passive subwoofers. I turn them on and off manually every day. In addition to walking from the parking lot to the building, that is the only other excercise I get on most days. Forget about automation and do it the old fashioned way.

If you don't want to do it manually, this may help.

Just found this one:

$30 and it has pretty good ratings. Would this work for what you want?

Here is an IR sensor system with 12v out via a learning remote.

Or you plug this into the switched outlet on your 4002...

The surge protector does have the power activated outlets and the DC trigger input - in order to use them to turn on the amps I need a signal imput identifying that the receiver has been turned on

Got a good idea from one of the guys over at Axiom - Run a 12V transformer off the switched outlet on the Marantz, once the receiver is turned on, the outlet powers up and the 12V out would act as a trigger.
