Default Just pulled the trigger...

I just pulled the trigger on a Pioneer SC-25 from Amazon. I got it for 1,099. Apparently it didn't get my shipping right so it may end up getting here after Christmas I sent an e-mail to them requesting it be changed though - hopefully they can.

The SC-25 is a very nice receiver. I just got one myself and I can't imagine you being disappointed with it. I hate to hear about your shipping snafu though. Hopefully they can get that straightened out.

What happens to the warranty if ordering from Amazon?

Edit: Nevermind. Googled.

Thank you. I spoke with the seller over the phone and they assured me it will be here prior to the 25th. However I don't believe my center channel or subwoofer will be, nor my speaker wire.

I'm looking to upgrade from a elite vsx-91txh to your new elite unit.....I am getting some occasional glitches on my 91txh when dts engages and it's becoming annoying....

have you had any issues with your sc-25? thanks and enjoy my friend!

btw, I love the 8 bit nintendo...I have mine in the bedroom hooked up to an old school crt televison.......

Welcome to the "ICE" club! The SC series of receivers are truly, to an end, the tweaker's dream. Powerful, accurate output power specification and quite feature-laden, and whether you are a rocket-scientist or not on receiver setup, the receiver serves well (but so much better if you dare to be a rocket-scientist about it... ).

Not to mention sexy-looking!

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised, as my cabinet got a new addition today:

I can close the glass cabinet door without any problems, however the fit is pretty tight front to back. I'm going to move it to the other side where there aren't any components and put my bluray player under the XBOX in hopes of reducing heat. As it stands, do you think I'll have a lot of overheating issues with the SC-25 with the door closed?

Vary nice receiver , Beautiful isn't it ! To be on the safe side I would have the doors open when you are using it . Or you can get A fan to keep the air moving around it !

In regards to depth, the receiver just barely fits in my cabinet. Do you guys think that the banana plugs are going to push it over the edge in regards to clearance?

And yes, the reciever is a thing of beauty. I can't wait until I get the rest of my components here so I can get everything working.

Do you have the Banana's in yet (hooked up) . If it fits , it fits . I would not worry about that then !!

Just be sure you don't have it shoved all the way into the Banana plug's !

No, the banana plugs are not yet in. If the banana plugs were touching the back would that be a major problem?

I think I'm just going to take the center door out. Inside the center door are two shelves, the top with a hole leading to the bottom and the bottom has a hole out the back. This would be perfect for hooking up the surround sound system. It also gives two inches of clearance in the back to accommodate the banana plugs. Two inches of clearance would be sufficent, would it not?

2 inches is still a bit tight, it may or may not fit (I'm at work and can't check for myself)....also keep in mind how you run the speaker wires from the receiver. You don't want to create any kind of severe "bend" at the point the wire runs out from the banana plug. I believe over time, it could cause some deterioration with the wire, and thus the sound.

Just attach the cables directly and screw them up tightly! You shouldn’t need to pull that thing out… for at least a few months. Use all the connections on right up!

That Pioneer is an, Armageddon life sucking b!tch from hell!

I haven't had any issues, but I can't comment on Master Audio or TrueHD because I'm using an older PS3 as my blu-ray player so for me it's PCM only. I've only heard of one issue and that appeared to be a handshake issue with the PS3 slim set to bitstream and seemed to be limited to Master Audio. However, it appears to have been resolved with the latest firmware update for the PS3.

And thanks, I love my original NES.

Congrats on the new addition. It's beautiful in your cabinet. I had a depth issue with mine as well and I cut the back of my ET stand out using a jigsaw. I just gave it a little clearance all around the receiver so it's not obvious when looking at it from the front through a closed door. I think 2" is going to be really tight with banana plugs because as forsberg pointed out you don't want to have to bend the wire too sharply where it connects to the plug. The same goes for your other connections. Cutting the back out for me made making all my connections SOOOO much easier though. No more feeding cables in through a slot and then going to one side or the other. The entire back of the receiver is now accessible from the back side of the cabinet. This worked so well I did the exact same thing on the other side on the bottom for my new Belkin PF60 power conditioner.

Also with regard to heat, I put two cooling fans in my ET stand to blow the hot air out. You can see pics in my HT gallery. I don't have any pics that specifically show the fans, but you can see what's going on in one or two of them.

UPDATE: I updated my HT gallery some today so now you can see the fans I'm talking about pretty well.
