Default The 10 Best Pictures of 1989

Alright here is a (not so) new idea. We can do this weekly. I will post a year and then we can rank and discuss what we feel are the 10 best pictures of that year. Should be a fun way to help expose everyone to some new films.

For those wondering here is the list of 10 highest domestic grossing films for 89:

251,185,407 Batman (1989)
197,171,806 Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
147,253,986 Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)
140,088,813 Look Who's Talking (1989)
130,724,200 Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989)
118,500,000 Back to the Future Part II (1989)
112,494,738 Ghostbusters II (1989)
109,859,444 The Little Mermaid (1989)
106,593,296 Driving Miss Daisy (1989)
100,047,830 Parenthood (1989)

The Oscar went to...
Driving Miss Daisy [runner ups were: Born on the Fourth of July, Dead Poets Society, Field of Dreams & My Left Foot]

The Golden Globe for Best Drama went to...
Born on the Fourth of July [runner ups were: Crimes and Misdemeanors, Dead Poets Society, Do the Right Thing & Glory]

The Golden Globe for Best Comedy/Musical went to...
Driving Miss Daisy [runner ups were: Shirley Valentine, The Little Mermaid, The War of the Roses & When Harry Met Sally]

It's kind of hard for me to do a full 10 movies each year...I can barely remember what movie came out what year anyway. It does help that you listed those movies in your first post. Of those, the best movies in my opinion are:

1st: Dead Poets Society

The rest (no order):
My Left Foot
Born on the Fourth of July
Glory
Field of Dreams

Do like me and keep a list of all the movies you have seen which would be hard now, I started keeping a list when I was like 12 or 13 and just keep adding to it. I honestly didn't remember liking Road House so much til i looked at my list a few minutes ago!

Glory is a must see! Like jhiggy said "everyone must be forced to watch Schinder's List" I say the same about Glory! And Hard to Kill to me was easily Seagal's best film! Got Em!!

yeah and I am a big fan of war movies so it is weird I have yet to see the film. One of those that just got missed along the way. I have yet to see Schindlet's List as well; had the DVD for around 6 months but waiting for the BD... most likely will watch before then though (once the new TV gets here). I just want to be totally sure I have 3 straight hours to dedicate to the film without breaking it up at all.
