Default 1989 Batman DVD Up-converted

Just watched tonight with a friend through the PS3..... WOW WOW WOW.... I used the recent remasted copy that came with the anthology box set. I've watched alot of DVD's up-converted so far and most seem fuzzy but better quality. This one was the best I have seen especially for a 18+ yr old movie.

The DTS soundtrack was very impressive for DVD standards. I'm sure they will use this as the base to put this on BLU someday !

Ohhh they will, but its up to Warner Bros. to secure its quality...which is very unpredictable these days...

I have a feeling we will be seeing Batman, Batman Returns, and Batman Begins in 2008. Either when Dark Knight hits theaters, or when it hits Blu.

Hell, we might even get Batman Forever and Batman & Robin (do we really want them?)

I'd see them solely for Nicole Kidman (who looked gorgeous in that movie and only that movie) and Uma Thurman.

I... cannot friggin' wait to get Batman and Batman Returns on Blu, I may have a seizure if I had them in my hands, I don't own the remasterd version because i'm holding out hoping it comes to Blu soon, I swear if it doesn't come in 08' I WILL kill someone at Warner.

Me too, I want Burton's two Batman films on Blu-ray more than just about anything else. Warner did a great job with the remastered DVDs, so I have no doubt they'll look excellent in high-def.

Frankly, out of all the DVD's I've dug off the shelf, I've never seen a major Warner title that DIDN'T look pretty darn good upconverted on a PS3.

Just went through the LOTR Trilogy last week and I can honestly say, I can't picture how BD would possibly upgrade it (not that I'd mind, of course)...
What the SD's gain on upconvert pretty well balances out what the BD's lose on VC-1.

Hey,

Well,... Maybe,.. I haven't seen LOTR on Blu just yet. But I would suggest you compare Cars on DVD and Blu Ray. When I owned the DVD I thought it looked "perfect" upconverted but it's remarkably better on Blu.

I would think all those big landscape shots in LOTR would be stunning in HD.

Definitely disagree on that. The LOTR DVDs have a notoriously soft image, and would gain tremendously from a high-def upgrade.

Actually, somebody made a DVD/HD LOTR comparison page here. Click for the full-size shots to really see the difference.

Great link! and imagine the image being even better on a bluray disc over the ota hd signal Im guessing those shots were copied from.

The whole shark scene ranks up there with some of the greatest moments on film.

Oh hell yeah! Tim Burton's Batmans on Blu along with Batman Begins? Yup, that's a boner.

Even though I already own all the the SE Batman DVDs, I'd probably cave-in and get Batman '89 and Batman Begins on Blu.

But think, Robin, think--The second clue:
